Kaukauna is a town in Marathon County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. Kaukauna is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha metropolitan area. It lies on the south side of the Kenosha River and east of Racine. The first Europeans to visit Kaukauna were French missionaries in 1647-48. In 1837, Dr. David Dudley founded a school in Kaukauna as part of his work with Native Americans in that area. A post office was established here in 1839, and by 1845 there were 30 settlers living here. By 1870, Kaukauna had a total population of 350 people. The railroad arrived here in 1892 and helped change the character of these early settlements; by 1915 it had become an agricultural center with more than 100 businesses catering to farmers from all over Wisconsin and Michigan. After World War II, Kaukauna became increasingly suburbanized until it reached its current form about 1970 when residents began to leave for other townships within Marathon County because of the surging milk prices caused by UAW strikes throughout much of western Wisconsin during that decade (see "Milwaukee–Waukesha metropolitan area"). Today's Hauppauge Township forms one corner of this growing suburbia while Sawyer Township surrounds the eastern edge on three sides forming an almost complete ring around what once was rural Kaufmanan Community Parkland subdivision - home to many local businesses as well as housing developments such as two high schools (now closed), an ice rink/, multiple churches and hospitals/medical clinics etc., along with several dozen small residences typical for suburban areas today: plenty of open space but no downtown business or services available nearby so shopping takes place out-of-town or via internet only deliveries instead...Today Businesses like Chilton's Tire Center & Service have moved into newer buildings closer to their customers whereas older stores like Kroger still operate out-of-town providing some degree level resident services...The loss/absence/delay associated with distance from larger city center may account for some recent dropoffs among Kaufmanan residents noticable within last few years...Despite this decline some people remain very active politically both locally and statewide including serving on various boards and committees... Today there are several parks located within walking distance including KCParks which provides basketball and volleyball games each weeknight as well as numerous cultural events throughout year

Kaukauna, Wisconsin (population: 9,815) is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Kaukauna County. It was founded in 1847 by Otto Weiser and his brother Friedrich Weiser as a trading post on the Kenosha River. The name Kaukauna comes from an Ojibwe word meaning "to cool or Refresh." The city's current form was adopted in 1959 when it merged with nearby Sault Ste Marie to form the new City of Kaukauna. The city was originally named after Otto Weiser's father-in-law, John Weiser, who had been born in 1784 in what is now Minnesota and moved to what is now Kaukauna County in 1817. In 1847, Weiser purchased 640 acres (248 hectares), including present-day downtown Kaukauna, from Captain John Dyche for $1 per acre. The land became known as "Weisern Prairie". In 1860, Kaukuana Post Office was established at this site; it continues to serve today as the primary mailing address for the city of Kaukuana. In 1912, Hauptmann Brewing Company opened its first brewery in what is now downtown Kaukauna; it remains one of the most important brewing companies in town today. In 1954, Kaufmannschaftswirthschaft merged with other local businesses to create the present day City of Kauka
Kaukauna was first settled in the early 1800s by Finnish and Danish immigrants. In 1851, it became a city and was named after Kaukauna Lake. Kaukauna is home to several museums, including the Wisconsin Historical Society Museum and Library, as well as the Kaukauna Public Art Gallery.
