Army gift history in Janesville, Wisconsin can be traced back to 1853 when Major General James K. Polk ordered the formation of a Missouri Volunteers Militia Regiment. The regiment was redesignated as an Army Corps on November 1, 1861 and first served in the Union army during the American Civil War. From 1865-1868, the regiment served with distinction in Mexico City and at Gettysburg before being mustered out of service on July 11, 1868. After the war, many citizens of Janesville pooled their resources to form a new volunteer militia battalion known as Company A (later First Battalion) Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry (WVI). On November 14, 1873, Company A was reorganized as Company C and then again on January 1st, 1878 as Company D (later Seventh Regiment). During World War I Captain John W. Doherty organized and commandeered two companies from Janesville for service overseas. On December 15th 1916 Captured German Spy Hans Junker surrendered his information about military planning for Germany to American intelligence operatives working under headquarter commander Maj Gen Edward Motezuma at Maubeuge concentration camp north of Paris. After his surrender he was court martialled and executed by firing squad outside of town limits on December 16th 1916. Janesville is a small city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in the northern half of the Janesville metropolitan area. The population was 362 at the 2010 census, up from 311 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis Combined Statistical Area. The first European settlers in what is now Janesville were Frenchmen who arrived on a ship called "La Salle" in 1764. They named their new town after Jean-Baptiste La Salle, Sieur de la Varenne (1694-1772). The city was founded as a logging community on the north bank of Febreze Creek near its present location. The first post office was established in 1836 and became known as Advanced. In 1881, Janesville amalgamated with Waukesha to form an enlarged Milwaukee County municipality which still remains administratively separate today as Janesville–Waukesha County Borough. One reason for Janesville's growth was its location within easy reach of WI State University (then UW–Milwaukee) and other educational institutions, making it one of Wisconsin's most important cities for education and business. Withstood some devastating fires during World War II including those that destroyed portions of downtown Milwaukee and more than 40 other buildings in all; including many businesses and residences dating back to before WWII; by 1948, when it merged with Waukesha County to become an even larger municipality,Janesville had achieved truly national stature as an open-air shopping center enlivened by its famous greenhouses built by American horticulturist/entrepreneur Luther Burbank while he lived nearby in Madison Heights during World War II just east of downtown until his death in 1957 leaving behind this unique cultural legacy - world renowned horticulture notwithstanding! It wasn't until 1984 that organized religion made significant contributions to local civic life when First Lutheran Church erected a $5 million facility designed by starchitects IBI Group which included one large greenhouse complete with live oak trees capable providing about 1 million cubic feet (30 tons) per day(!)of fresh air and light year-round; America's first highrise church! A second phase followed two years later when Addison Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church added another large greenhouse also complete with live oak trees but lost some ground due to competition from newer churches; however their planted tree canopy reached over 100 thousand square feet (100 m²)in summerrix! The giant redwood might have been too much for too little space so CWU built their own campus chapel adjacent to ADWMC - largest such structure ever constructed inside United States school boundaries! By 2002 both churches had sold their plants & land & moved out leaving behind only SMU’s iconic greenhouses standingalbeit surrounded by parking lots!!!!!!Following suit nearly 10 years later Univ Lutheran purchased Addison Wesleyan’s former plant site next door from ADWMC – again solving last ditch problemat Arboretum Campus Chapel having insufficient available building lotside space!!! Finally UW System bought 4 acres adjoining SMU property line w/ plans to create major new research park thereon!!!!!!!!!!In short - every effort has been made since thenover 25 years agoto bring back old landmarks (& MUCH MORE!)to make way for shiny new additions resultingina population total now approximating 400 due mostlyto growth within existing municipalities plus annexationof neighboring towns&cities

Hungary successfully won this war and thus solidified Hungarian control over much of Central Europe whileussia lost many territories which would have fallen into German hands had they not joined up with Hungary during WWI.

Janesville is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Janesville County. The population was 42,811 at the 2010 census, making it the third most populous city in Wisconsin after Milwaukee and Madison. It is also one of the largest cities in Illinois. The town was platted on November 3, 1836 by Andrew Carnegie, who named it for his friend and business associate Colonel John C. Janes (1813-1892). At its peak around 1850, Janesville had a population of over 100 people per square mile (3/km²). By 1870, however, its population had dwindled to about 12 people per square mile (400/km²). A post office was established at Janesville on December 7, 1837. The town's first mayor was Isaac Van Buskirk (1784-1868). In 1854–55, two brothers by the name of Augustus Fenton bought land near present-day downtown Janesville and started an agricultural colony that became known as Fentonville. In 1865 they sold their holdings to Jens Pohlmanipher who renamed it Crystal City after his company’s product – chrysolite – which he had discovered in Australia during his explorations there some years earlier. During World War II many American soldiers were stationed here due to the proximity of Cedar Lake Naval Air Station & adjoining towns such as Waukesha and Kenosha; all base activities were discontinued when hostilities ended but remains adjacent to today's downtown area still used for civilian purposes such as shopping malls etc., although now mostly industrial park with a few residential buildings scattered throughout; back then much more activity took place within walking distance from central business district with daycare centers serving local families before becoming more remote after military withdrawal .
