Hartford, Wisconsin is the home of the first gourmet coffeehouse in America. The Coffee House was established by Alfredo Zanatta and his brother-in-law, Angelo Rossi in 1957. It was located at 222 South State Street and served only Italian coffee. In 1961, Zanatta opened the Hartford Coffee Company on North Broadway in Hartford,Wisconsin which quickly became a popular stop for Milwaukee Brewers fans looking to purchase their favorite craft brews. In 1984, Zanatta's grandson founded The Coffee House Chicago store which continued to serve gourmet coffee until it closed its doors in 2006.

Hartford, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 11,898 at the 2010 census. The town is located in the northwest corner of the state and is bordered by the towns of Appleton to the south and Stevens Point to the east. It is also bordered by Menasha County to its north, and Racine County to its west. The first European settler in Hartford was George Crawford, who arrived on July 3, 1836. The town was platted on August 12, 1837, when James Hutton1 organized a Town Company from parts of Appleton and Stevens Point Townsships. The first meeting of thetown board took place on October 15th. In 1830s Hartford had two sawmills that produced lumber for local use or export; these mills closed around 1840 due to competition from other lumber industries in Wisconsin at that time. Hartford experienced some growth following its incorporation as a town on December 1st, 1865; this growth included construction of an addition to City Hall/Fond du Lac High School which opened in 1903 and still stands today as one of downtown's most iconic landmarks (the 'Old Main' building). During World War II Hartford played an important role as an air-garrisoning center for American forces during their campaign against Nazi Germany; many military installations were built here including Fort Carson Air Force Base and Camp McCoy Army Reserve Training Center (now known as West Allis Community College).
