The 1st Infantry Regiment was reactivated on September 3, 1920 as part of the United States Army Reserve and served until it was disbanded on January 2, 1923. It re-activated on February 16, 1924 as part of the Wisconsin National Guard and served until it was disbanded again on May 6, 1927. Grafton, Wisconsin is a small town in the far north-central Wisconsin region. The population was 1,936 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Racine–Waukesha–Kokomo metropolitan area. The name Grafton comes from two early settlers, George and Nancy Grafton. They traveled downriver from Michigan to find land to purchase in this area in 1847. They named their new settlement after George's uncle, John Grafton, who had come overland from England in that year. The community grew rapidly and by 1857 it had a post office, grocery store, and three schools. In 1865 the first railroad arrived through this area and helped to spur economic development which included a large foundry and other businesses. By 1910 Grafton had become an important agricultural center with grain elevator facilities as well as orchards, corn cribs, dairy farms, chicken coupes (a type of sausage), apple orchard trees,and several churches including one Roman Catholic church founded in 1881. In 1930 Grafton was merged into Racine with its sister town Waukesha becoming one of the largest city areas in Wisconsin with over 100 thousand residents within commuting distance for most jobs. Today there are few industries remaining outside of agriculture but much renovation has taken place within the last 25 years making Grafton more pedestrian friendly than ever before!

Grafton is a village in Brown County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 912 at the 2010 census. It was attached to the town of Chilton for financial reasons in 1958. Grafton is located on the east bank of the Wabash River, about north-northwest of Chicago. Grafton's ZIP code is 54609. The village has a Main Street and two blocks of matching side streets flanked byonewalk streets which lead to three small villages (Green Lake, Southwark, and Whitefish) that are part of Grafton Village Incorporated. There are also several farmsteads scattered around Grafton Village as well as a few residences within its boundaries: Green Lake Estates (home to Greenlake School), Southwark Place (residential complex with grocery store, gas station/ convenience store, doctor office and other services), Whitefish Landing (one house with dock and fishing pier), East Wing Road Community Park (playground and shopping mall). The first settler in what would become Grafton were Nicoletts who arrived from Denmark in 1836. They built their log cabin on the banks of the riverine stream which they named "Nicoletts Bend." After leaving Nicolett's Bend in 1841 for unknown reasons, some settlers followed an abandoned wagon road northwest until they reached what would become Chilton whereupon they began building cabins on a bluff above the riverbank opposite Chilton Creek On December 12th 1860 when it was annexed into Chilton for financial reasons by then-Mayor Abram Sisson Geoge Washington closed his barber shop located on Main Street just east of corner lot line with John Aiken located at 5407 N 84th St., Geoge Washington became Mayor effective January 1st 1861 after he won election against incumbent Samuel Morse
Grafton, Wisconsin was originally settled in 1836 by the Potawatomi. The town was named after General Anthony Grafton, a United States Army officer and military governor of Michigan Territory. The first post office in Grafton was established in 1837. In 1853, the village of Grafton merged with the town of Northfield to form the new city of Grafton.
