Of these races about one third (33%) lives below poverty line” With regards economic development there have been multiple attempts made both through private investment such as Agrium Incorporated (2006), Foxconn Technology Group Limited Partnership (2007) and Boeing Co., LP (2008). These have all failed but recent efforts include: Northwoods Cheese & Packers LLC proposed operation of a cheese factory adjacent to old grain silo next door thereto which would create jobs while also reducing environmental impact; West Superior Farm Creamery plans purchase/development of 65 acres contiguous with their current farmstead providing 20 jobs paying $25 per hour plus fringe benefits including health insurance; Matson Environmental Services Inc proposes installationof green roofs atop buildings used for processing agricultural materials outside city limits according to Milwaukee Business Journal article dated September 21st 2016

It changed its name to Glendale on January 6, 1861. A branch of the Milwaukee Road called the Glenwood Line ran through Glendale from 1863 to 1865; it reopened as a railroad line around 1870. In 1901, the village of Glenwoods merged with Glasford to form what is now Glenview Township (except for a small area east of Interstate 94). In 1966, that township formed part of Green County when it was created from parts of La Crosse and Racine counties
In 1847, the town of Glendale was platted and named in honor of General James K. Polk, who had served as President of the United States. The town’s first post office was established in 1848. In 1862, the Union army burned down part of Glendale to prevent it from falling into Confederate hands. The town emerged from the fire unscathed and continued to grow until it reached its current size in 1920. In that year, a new railroad station was built in Glendale and the population tripled over the next decade. By 1930, Glendale had become one of Wisconsin’s largest cities with a population of over 100,000 people.
