In Glendale, Wisconsin, the Gun Owners of America (GOA) has been working to protect Second Amendment rights for over 60 years. In 1978, GOA founded the Glendale Police Department's Citizens' Committee on Firearms Policy to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and their victims. Glendale, Wisconsin is a small town in the southwest corner of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,495 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Appleton–Waukesha metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Glendale were French missionaries from St. Louis in 1795 and they called it "Grosse Pointe." Jesuit Father Philippe-Jacques De Sève visited Glendale in 1814 and he named it after his home city, Paris, France. In 1824, The Glendaleites organized themselves into a town meeting to set up their own government and name their new town after them – Glendale, Illinois. In 1873, The Milwaukee Road built a railroad through Glendale and it became known as "the Track of the Trail". In 1902, The Milwaukee Road merged with Chicago Northern Railway and changed its name to "the Chicago Great Western". In 1907, The Great Western merged with Kansas City Southern Railway to become THE PRESTON LINE COOPERATIVE which then changed its name to THE CINCINNATI RAILROAD COMPANY on October 15th 1913 (and still exists today). On November 8th 1928 several thousand people from all over America came together in Cincinnati for an event known as "The Big Day" when the Indianapolis 500 was held there that year. On May 14th 1951 during Czechoslovakia's Velvet Revolution some citizens of Prague took flight into exile by flying into nearby Springdale Airport disguised as American passengers on United Airlines Flight 447 which crashed near Kingman Air Force Base killing all 269 passengers and crewmembers aboard including 24 Americans including future President George H W Bush who was also on board en route from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to Prague.)
