Glendale is a town in Barron County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,651 at the 2010 census. The community of Glendale was platted in 1837 and named for General James H. Glendon, an American Revolutionary War hero who fought for the British. The first post office in Glendale was established in 1842. The first store in the town was opened by Mr. John Ponce de Leon on Main Street in 1845. In 1895, the Territorial Legislature created Barron County and granted it to the town of Glendale with a deed of gift. The following year, the first railroad ran through Glendale; it was called the Milwaukee Road and linked Menomonee Falls with Milwaukee. In 1924, Drury School closed due to financial difficulties within that community; however, it reopened as a part of Marquette High School after that school's foundationwas amended to allow those grades to participate in unified programming between high schools located within the district boundaries (at that time all four high schools were responsible for education for students from east of Polk Street). According to the 2010 Census, there are 1,651 people living in Glendale; 2% are under 5 years old and none of them areolars or blind residents; 98% are white non-Hispanic residents according to US Census definition; 0% black or African American residents according to US Census definition; 3% Native American residents according to US Census definition; and 4% Asian Pacific Islander residents according to US Census definition making up 2% percent (or less) of total population overall%. Of these racial/ethnic groups: 93% are male citizens ages 25-54 years old while 6% is female citizens age 25-54 years old.; 83% identify as white non-Hispanic while 17% identify as black or African American citizens while 10%, each identifies as Asian Pacific Islander citizens who make up 3%. Males account for 95%; females account for 7%; Asians make up 3%. This percentage varies depending on which race/ethnicity group is being counted when looking at ethnicity percentages: 92%-96%] males only account for 85%, while 7%-9%] females only account for 15%; among those 10%, 3%-5%] Asians make up most (approximately 50%); 5%-10%] whites make up most (approximately 75%); 11%-15%] Native Americans make up about one-third of participants from this racial/ethnic group followed by about one fourth each from both other two aforementioned groups

It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. The first settler in Glendale was John Pohlman, who arrived in 1847. The town name derived from "Gleason", an Indian word meaning "to turn over." In 1870, Wm. H. Kapp purchased a farm and named it Glendale after his family's home in Ohio. The early twentieth century saw heavy industry and development in Glendale; the railroad brought wealth and jobs to the community during this time. After World War II, however, Glendale began to decline as factories closed down and crime increased; by 1990 its population had fallen to 693. However,over the last few years there have been positive developments for Glendale as new businesses have come online and more people have moved into the community since then. In recent years there has also been growth in food production as a result ofnew farming techniques being developed in Glendale; these include hydroponics, which are water-based systems that allow for crops to be grown without soil or fertilizer
