As Wisconsinites commemorate the state’s first coffee crop in 1847, they also remember a time when coffee was not only a luxury but something that was enjoyed by all. Prior to this, coffee was only consumed by the wealthy. In order for coffee to become one of the most popular items on grocery shelves, it had to be roasted and ground carefully. The process of roasting and grinding is what separated early German-owned dairies from their counterparts in other states. The first batch of beans that were roasted and ground at the Pabst Brewery in Glendale were brought over by John Beals from Illinois. Beals started out as an arriviste at Pabst and soon realized that he needed some quality beans to make his own coffee. He brought over two bags of Arabica beans and began roast them himself in his home kitchen. The results were spectacular; these first few batches of roasted beans made perfect espresso without any bitterness or harshness. This set the standard for future roasters throughout Wisconsin and much of America. While many people might think of Germany as the birthplace of espresso, it actually wasn’t until Italy launched its own espresso machine in 1905 that café owners began to experiment with different types of drinks using three-cups per pound wafers instead of just one cup per pound like they did back then. At this point, Italians began turning their attention to French press machines which gave them a more robust flavor profile than Italian machines did. As Belgians migrated westward during World War II, they brought their new technology with them and quickly perfected French press printing methods which gave Belgian cafes their signature richcolored creaminess (think Dunkin' Donuts). Consequently, even though Germans founded Fassbinder Coffee Roasters in Glendale in 1984 (and continue to roast Bernhard Weininger's classic blends), Italian origin accounts for about 60% or more of all artisan coffees presently sold online (www.artisancoffeeprojectswestusa.com).

Glendale, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,817 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–West Bend metropolitan area. Glendale was founded in 1892 and incorporated as a city in 1959. The townsite that now makes up Glendale was settled by German immigrants in the early 1800s, and originally called "Kreutzfeldt." The name change may be related to John Kreutzfeldt's discovery of lead ore on his property in 1827. By 1892, Glendale had been renamed for George Washington Woodbury, who had represented it on the city council from 1875-1887. In 1957, Glendale became an independent municipality with its own government and mayor. Today, much of what made Glendale a popular community has passed away: its downtown business district has been replaced by acres of farmland; Griggs Avenue remains one of only a few remaining streets that run perpendicular to the river near the town center; and most buildings dating before World War II have been demolished or converted into farms or other businesses. Despite this setback, however, Glendale continues to thrive as a small town with close-knit community spirit and unique architecture – many residents still call it their "home" town even though they live elsewhere within reach of larger cities such as Green Bay or Milwaukee. However recent trends show that although annexation plans have stalled or been abandoned due primarily to funding shortages caused by recessionary conditions following Lehman Brothers bankruptcy/bankruptcy relief efforts -Glendale is slowly but surely becoming more annexed each year with new subdivisions being developed further east along Griggs Ave., west along US Highway 10 & north along US Highway 3 which skirts around Lake Michigan just northeast of Glendale

The coffee industry has a long and varied history, with different origins and methods of production. Some of the earliest coffee trees were in Africa, where beans were roasted over an open fire. Coffee was first brewed using water from wells in Ethiopia in the 4th century BC. The Arabian Peninsula was home to some of the first coffee presses, which roasted whole beans and then sold them as iced drinks. In 1795, Dutch traders discovered Java (now Indonesia) while sailing through the area; they named the island Java after this discovery. Coffee began to be grown on Java in the late 18th century, and by 1830 it had become a major crop. In 1847, Prince Ferdinand von Teck ordered Russian developers to construct a large plantation on Borneo for export to Europe; this plantation is now known as Klondike Coffee Company. By 1860, more than 60% of world production came from Java alone. The growing popularity of coffee led to new ways of processing and packaging it. In 1870s entrepreneur John D’Arcy McGee developed a process for making instant coffee that became very popular; instant coffee would not be made commercially until 1912. McGee also pioneered brewing small batches of espresso at home using single-shot espresso machines called "mini mugs". One early example is found on display at The Cloisters Museum in Edinburgh, Scotland. By World War II almost all Indonesian plantations had been destroyed due to war shortages; thereafter most global production passed through Dutch hands before ending up in African countries such as Uganda and Nigeria where it continued into the 1970s because those countries could produce more cocoa than Indonesia could produce coffee). However, during this time there was significant growth within both Indonesian-owned enterprises (IOCOP) producing high quality beans for European customers (eager buyers eager for ethical Swiss-made products), as well as newly founded cooperatives which grew rapidly thanks to government support - these latter are now considered Rare Earth Coffee Cooperative Ltd., one of largest artisanal roasters in the world with operations around the world

The first coffee beans were roasted and ground in a small village near Mecca, Arabia about 6000 BC. The first espresso machines were built using this technology in the 1800s.
