Franklin, Wisconsin is home to the first coffee shop in the United States. The coffee shop was called the maga coffee store and it operated from 1875-1879. It was a small grocery store with two floors that sold goods such as milk, bread, eggs, and other groceries. The maga coffee store struggled financially but it remained open until around 1920. In 1925, the Franklin Coffee Company was founded and it continued to operate until 1974. Maga coffee has been popular in Franklin for many years and it is still being enjoyed today.

Franklin, Wisconsin is a small town in the US state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,856 at the 2010 census. It is the only municipality in Franklin County and it is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The town was named for Benjamin Franklin, an American Founding Father who lived in Philadelphia from 1750 to 1771. The first permanent settler in what would become Franklin was John Doane, who arrived around 1836. In 1854, James Fenton purchased land adjacent to present-day Franklin from the Wabash River Sioux tribe. By 1860, there were over 100 people living and working in Franklin. Residential development began soon after with settlers moving into homes built by early fur traders and gentleman farmers such as George Hennepin and Simon Girty. During the Civil War, many residents served in Union Army units or were drafted into service but few buildings remain from this time period. After the war ended, many residents returned home to rebuild their lives while others continued farming until 1970 when electric power became available to support businesses and more people started moving into Franklin. In 1970, a new high school was built on land donated by Annandale Township trustees along with other public works projects including a new library and natural gas station/convenience store on Main Street which opened in 1975.. Today, much of downtown Franklin remains unchanged since its initial construction with only minor repairs required every 10 years or so - making it one of WisCONNECTed's most property-preserving communities!
