Cudahy, Wisconsin is a small town in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The population was 5,965 at the 2010 census. Cudahy is located in southeastern Wisconsin on the eastern edge of the Iron Range. The town was named for John Cudahy, who resided there in 1834 and 1835. The first post office was established in 1837. In 1865, the village of Cudahy merged with the Town of Racine to form what is now called Cudahy Township. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 6,711 people, 2,872 households, and 1,953 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,763.6 people per square mile (566.4/km²). There were 3,073 housing units at an average density of 753.8 per square mile (291.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98% White (of which 97% were Non-Hispanic white), 1% African American, 0% Native American,[3] and 0% Asian.[4] Hispanic or Latino residents made up 2% of the population.[5]

The town of Cudahy, Wisconsin was founded in 1836 by citizens of the nearby community of Grafton. The town quickly grew and became one of the most important towns on the Upper Peninsula. Through hard work and determination, Cudahy has maintained its high standards as a small town with a rich history. Cudahy is located on the banks of the crosstown Wabash River, just east of the city of Appleton. The town was named for James Cudahy, an early settler who owned land in what is now Cudahy. In 1836, James and his wife Sarah founded a small log cabin near where they later built their home. By 1840, James and Sarah had also erected a frame house which they used as their business office until it burned down in 1862. During the early 1800s, there were only two other settlements on the Upper Peninsula- Portage and Green Bay- both located in present day Milwaukee County. However, due to factors such as population growth and natural resources such as timber (which helped drive much economic development in this area), Cudahy quickly became one of Upper Michigan’s most important towns due to its position as an agricultural center for eastern Wisconsin. Cudahy was incorporated as a village in 1869 and then became a unincorporated community when it merged with neighboring Grafton into one municipality during 1910. In 1935, Cudahy amalgamated once again with Appleton to form the current city of Appleton. Today, many people from surrounding communities still live within walking distance or car theft distances of downtown Appleton while others commute to jobs throughout southeastern Wisconsin or northern Illinois each day. The unique character that has made these smalltown residents so successful continues to be their focus on quality personal service over quantity; something that has helped make them some of America’s oldest continuously operating villages/communities
The Cudahy, Wisconsin community was founded in 1857 by John H. Cudahy and his wife Catharine. The town was named after the Cudahy family’s farm on the east side of the Fox River. The first store in the town was built in 1859. In 1865, the first post office opened in the town. By 1870, there were 10 homes and 30 people living in Cudahy. During the late 1800s, many agricultural businesses were established in Cudahy, including a tannery and a cooperage. In 1919, some residents of Cudahy organized to form their own school district. When it became clear that larger schools would be needed in neighboring towns, they formed another school district called Waukesha County School District No. 1
