Cudahy is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. The community was named for Cudahy, Illinois. The first settler in what is now Cudahy was John Hutton. He built a cabin on the current site of the town in 1855. By 1870, most of the area around Cudahy had been taken up by farming and ranching operations. In 1902, railroad developer George Ewing bought land around present-day Cudahy and began to build a line from Chicago to Milwaukee. When the line was completed in 1906, the town became part of Milwaukee County. A post office called Cudahy was established in 1857, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1925, local developer Harry Laughlin started developing an area east of present-day Cudahy known as "Laughlin Park". This development eventually included several thousand homes and businesses. The park has since become one of the most popular areas for recreation in Door County. In 1959, locals voted to change the name of their town to Fitzgerald because they felt that it better reflected their democratic values and traditions than its original nameakes: Hutton or Laughlin Park (although both names remain used today). Fitzgerald won out over other proposals including "Clarence" and "Fitzgerald Heights." The new name officially took effect on October 1st 1959

Cudahy is a town in the town of Greenfield, on the west side of the Mississippi River in Midwestern United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–West Allis Metropolitan Area. The first settler in what is now Cudahy was Abram Buhl. He arrived in 1836 and named his land "Cudahy." The name Cudahy comes from Potawatomi word "kuda-hay," meaning "place where water flows." In 1854, John Fenton purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) of land east of present-day Cudahy from Abram Buhl. He named it Prairie du Chien and started to build a log cabin there. In 1870, Isaac Stephenson moved to this area from Green Bay and began to raise wheat with his son John Stephenson. By 1871, he had built two more log cabins and begun to sell flour for $1 per bushel. This began Wisconsin's Wheatland period which lasted until about 1880 when corn became more important as a crop in Wisconsin due to increased demand for flour from Illinois and other states during the American Civil War. In 1872, Dolphus Gibbs bought 320 acres (100 hectares) north of present day Cudahy from Isaac Stephenson for $10 per acre ($382 per hectare). With this purchase, Gibbs became one of the earliest farmers south of Chicago who grew corn instead of wheat because he believed that corn could be grown throughout most or all Midwest winters while wheat could only be grown during certain months or years. In 1893, Jno Hennepin bought 515 acres (225 hectares) near town limits for $5 per acre ($1010 per hectare). This purchase marked Hennepin's arrival as one of Wisconsin's first commercial farmers outside Milwaukee County because he had developed large areas around Marshfield and Sheboygan Falls into productive farmland with good soil quality while others were developing only light crops such as hay or potatoes. A new courthouse was built in 1907 by George Laughlin on land donated by Jabez Gossage; it served as county court house until 1975 when it was replaced by the current courthouse which opened in 1984 following a major renovation project costing $27 million dollars including replacement of many buildings within walking distance including Old Courthouse Annex building which housed jail cells until 1976 when they were replaced by new wings housing public defender offices until 1997 when they were replaced by another wing housing state appellate courts since 2003 until their demolition effective January 1st 2006 resulting in loss of over $20 million dollars worth real estate value over 10 years since its construction.) There have been several changes through history associated with Cudahy: pioneer era: Abram Buhl settled here around 1836; early settlers included John Stephenson (1870), Isaac Stephensons (1872), Jabez Gossage (1892), George Laughlin( 1907), Dolphus Gibbs/Jno Hennepin( 1893), WmKelsey Olson(1923).; post-war era: post-war growth came after World War II when many people left rural America for jobs in urban centers across midwest; postwar period saw numerous farms prosperity thanks to advances technology such as tractor production etc.; late 20th century thru 2000s: changes include suburbanization primarily due to increasing migration into area & suburbication has led to pollution problems caused by high number & concentration Of automobiles within borders
