Cudahy is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 4,898 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Cudahy was David Cook in 1847. Cudahy is located on the east side of Door County and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is bordered by Manitowoc to the south and west, Garden City to the north, and Racine to the east. The town was named after John Cudahy, an early settler who platted what would become Cudahy Township in 1848. The first post office opened in 1851. In 1870, a sawmill and gristmill were built near present-day Main Street; these mills were destroyed by fire in 1903. In 1909–10, a water tower was erected on Park Avenue southwest of downtown Cudahy; this structure served as a drinking fountain for many years until it was replaced by a new tower in 2012. The original village plat for Cudahy (now called Park) was filed with the state of Wisconsin on October 13th 1860 under dateline October 15th 1860 and became effective November 3rd 1860 when it was accepted by Town Meeting #5 which met at Masonic Hall on North Main Street which had been vacated due to construction of Prairie du Chien General store across the street from Masonic Hall which also housed Town Meeting machinery including voting machines & election returns etcetera The village plat included 12 blocks square land measuring .75 acres or .3 hectares lot size which at that time cost $2 per acre payable real estate taxes only

Cudahy is a town in Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. Cudahy is part of the Waukesha County, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located on the south side of Milwaukee and east of the city of Milwaukee. The area that now makes up Cudahy was first settled in 1792 by Peter and Paul Cudahy. Owners of land within today's town were given partitioned parcels in 1836 by Judge George Biddle as part of a move to create an incorporated village government for all of Waukesha County. The trustees who founded what would become Cudahy voted to name their new community after General John Fetterman, who had fought in the Mexican-American War and been wounded at Buena Vista Station. In 1868, local farmers began growing corn for export to Europe through the port at Chicago. A small canal was built through present-day downtown Cudahy to bring water from Lake Michigan back into town during dry years; this canal would later be known as State Street. In 1875, Cudahy had its first post office; it closed in 1951 due to competition from more important towns in the area. In 1901, there were only six residents living in what is now downtown Cudahy; over time however, apartment development and other growth has forced much smaller businesses out onto State Street and near Lake Michigan Boulevard – making it one ofWI's most vibrant business districts today. In 1939–40 Waukesha County merged with Milwaukee County form a larger metropolitan area which included all but two townships within modern Waukesha County as well as portions of Racine and Kenosha counties east of Milwaukee proper (the former Racine Township being included within latter municipality until 1974). Consequently, much earlier than expected about one-third or so of present day downtown Cudahy had been developed when merger occurred... Today many old brick buildings dating from before World War II still stand along State Street precluding detailed redevelopment which could have significantly altered character & skyline
