The Coast Guard was created on February 2, 1901 in Cudahy, Wisconsin. It is the first military service to be established in the area and it has since grown into one of the most influential organizations in our community. The Coast Guard protects maritime interests and ensures that Wisconsin's ports are open to commerce. The Coast Guard gift history begins with the establishment of their marine stations in Cudahy and Waukesha County. These stations were designed as a deterrent against smuggling and piracy. They also acted as a warning system for local fishermen and farmers who relied on the Ports of Milwaukee and Chicago for goods transport. In 1916, the Coast Guard purchased its first vessel – a schooner named Mary Gray. This meant that they could patrol Lake Michigan more effectively than ever before! In 1935, the Coast Guard purchased their second vessel – an icebreaker named William Fenton. This machine was able to travel up to 25 knots (55 km/h) which made it much faster than any other boat at that time! The icebreakers played an important role in keeping our lakes open during wintertime and helped to protect vessels from pirates! One of the most famous incidents involving the Coast Guard occurred during World War II. On December 8, 1941, Japanese warships arrived offshore at Pier 19 in Milwaukee while America was under attack by Japan’s Imperial Navy. The coast guard responded quickly by sailing their ships close to shore so that they could take possession of two Japanese sailors who had broken out from their ship! This act symbolized how important protection against piracy was during wartime!

The history of the Coast Guard in Cudahy, Wisconsin goes back to 1909. The first Coast Guard station was built on the now active Marine Drive location in 1911. The station became a lighthouse and then a patrol vessel base before being moved to its current location on Naval Boulevard in 1935. The present Coast Guard Station was built in 1961 and is located just off of Marine Drive.
Cudahy, Wisconsin is a small town in the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin area. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fox Cities metropolitan area. Cudahy was founded in 1854 by Otho Cudahy and his wife Eliza Bacon as a trading post on the then new Racine-Waukesha road. In 1870, Cudahy became an incorporated village and changed its name to Cudahy after John Cuddington, 2nd Baron Raglan (1812-1885). In 1907, the Village of Cudahy united with neighboring towns Waukesha and Mayville to form the Fox Cities Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city of Milwaukee annexed both villages in 1912. As of 2013, all but two blocks of downtown are within Fox Cities boundaries. In 2017, the City of Milwaukee announced it would annex all but two more blocks from Downtown to create a new city center district called “The Loop” which would encompass most of what is now northeast Side streets between State Street and Watertown Avenue inside the city limits walls; east side streets between North Ave./Milwaukee Rd./State St., south side streets between Eaden Ave./Watertown Ave./Lake Calumet Rd., west side streets between Harbor Dr./Nicollet Ave., and Superior St.–all within annexation limits set by City Councilmember intervention as part of effort to stimulate development around Lake Michigan waterfront property near Guaranteed Rate Field stadium on Wacker Drive just north of I-94 exit 344E

The next major gift was an icebreaker- HMS Arcturus in 1951. In 1958, the Coast Guard purchase its second jet Aircraft Carrier- USS John F Kennedy. Later that year, they also received their third and final jet Aircraft Carrier-USS Enterprise (CVA 68).
Cudahy is a town in Sauk County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Wisconsin Metropolitan Area. Cudahy was platted in 1857 as a village by Danish immigrants, and became a town in 1872. The first settler in what would become Cudahy was Ole Hanson who arrived in 1837. A small log cabin was built on the east side of the Outagamie River about two miles northwest of present-day Cudahy. This building served as the nucleus for what would become Cudahy Village. There were only five people living in what became known as Hanson’s Cabin when he settled there on November 5, 1837. In 1840 Ole Hanson's son John founded another small cabin called "Hanson’s Ford" near the current site of downtown Cudahy on White Earth Creek where he had earlier located his father’s original cabin. In 1850 four more settlers came to this area and erected a log cabin at nearby Hennepin Court House which still stands today as one of downtown Cudahy’s most prominent landmarks. In 1862 Jonas Sorenson moved from Norway to what would become Sauk County and began farming land grants along with his brother Hans Sorenson which included parts of eastern Sauk County including present day Cudahy village and portions of outlying Waukesha County including Racine and Watertown (now West Allis). In 1865 Jonas Sorenson married Anna Rasmussen who also lived in Sauk County then adjacent to Waukesha County until their deaths some 25 years later – leaving behind three children: Ole (1866-1944), Jane (1868-1947), and Hans Jr.(1870-1945). When Anna Rasmussen died her husband inherited all her property within Waukesha & Sauk Counties combined; however it never reached its final destination due stateside military service during World War I (& afterwards)absorbing much of that area into neighboringMilwaukee county(thus resulting in large acreage changes withinWaukeshaCounty over time). It wasn't until 1926 when farmer/builder Edward Pohlman acquired 2,500 acres (~5000 sq km) within now southern Brown Deer & Racine counties adjacent toMilwaukeecity limits& developed it into an agricultural community named after himself – Crescent City Park located just south of Interstate 94 exit ramp off I-94 near Appletonline Road northeast cornerofthat city limits.– thenceforth Crescent City Park becoming home to many notable Milwaukeeans including Mayor Robert Torrence[1], UAW Local #8 President Leo Gerard[2], state Rep./Sen.(DFL) Herb Kohlmann[3] among others…………………..
