The National Guard of the United States of America (NGUSA) was created in 1912 as a result of the American Revolution. The organization was originally called the Wisconsin Militia and recruited from within the state of Wisconsin. After World War I, the NGUSA grew rapidly and became an all-volunteer force. In 1924, Congress designated the NGUSA as a reserve military force for national defense purposes. The NGUSA has since become one of the most popular and respected organizations in our country. The first National Guard Regiment arrived in Cedarburg, Wisconsin on November 14th, 1862. The regiment was organized at the Cedarburg Arsenal and served for three years. They were then mustered out on October 16th, 1865.
Cedarburg, Wisconsin is a town in the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 11,032 at the 2010 census. It is part of the larger Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cedarburg was founded in 1837 and incorporated as a city in 1912. The first people to settle in Cedarburg were two families from Illinois: the Harts and the Breenes. In 1838, John Hart built a log cabin on what is now First Street in Cedarburg. He and his wife named their daughter Elmira after one of their friends who had died while visiting them in Illinois. A year later, they added another family to their settlement-the Smiths-when they discovered a piece of land with woods on it that they could use for hunting and forestry purposes. In 1841, Cedarburg became an unincorporated community when its founders organized themselves into a town under the name "Cedarburgh." They laid out streets and platted lots within present-day Cedarburg Village boundaries. During this time there were only three residents: John Hart, Abram Smith (the father of Abraham), and James Caldwell (the son of James Fenton). In 1912, following passage of legislation authorizing cities to be formed within Milwaukee County by merger of several towns thereinexisting since before township organization,, Cedarburg City became an official city by vote of its citizens on November 8th,. This action followed annexation by neighboring Hamline Township which had also been authorized by law that same day.. After years of growth and development,,,,Cedarburg reached its peak population size during World War II with over 15%of all addresses containing military service information being located there—-11% more than all other municipalities combined….. Over 30%of all businesses located there were engaged in agriculture or allied industries…… Today’s economy remains heavily focused upon manufacturing with around 60%of employment centered around that field….. With such ample opportunity for economic growth,,,, little has slowed down the pace or Scope Of Business Development For Our Town….

Cedarburg is a small town in southeastern Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,890 at the 2010 census. Cedarburg is part of the Kenosha County, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in what became Cedarburg was made by Andrew and John Caldwell in 1792. They named their new community after the cedar trees that lined the banks of the Kettle River. In 1847, Isaac Wirth founded a gristmill in Cedarburg and served as its first clerk. In 1853, James Fenton opened a bakery on Main Street in Cedarburg. It quickly became one of the most popular places to buy bread in eastern Wisconsin because of its excellent quality and unique flavor. In 1861, the American Civil War began and Cedarburg saw heavy fighting near its boundaries. On October 5th, 1861, Union soldiers killed four citizens – two men and two women – while they were gathering apples on their farm east of town. This event is known as “the Massacre at Cedarburg” and has been cited as one of the earliest examples of violence against civilians during the war. After the war ended, many residents returned home but some remained in southern Illinois to help support their families until they arrived in northwestern Wisconsin around 1870-71 with vast acreage for farming when land values increased greatly due to railroad development throughout Marshall County (now Kenosha County). When word reached them about this increase in land values they came back immediately and began construction on what would become their largest home ever built: The Caddo House which stood from 1876 to 1886 on North Main Street just outside present-day downtown Cedarburg. Many of these early pioneers are buried within present-day Elmwood Cemetery located just east of town along State Highway 9 west of US 40/Wisconsin state line south of Eastman Road/US 41 (exit 10). A post office called Cedarburgh was established at this site on July 1st, 1868; it continued operating until it was discontinued on December 15th, 1971. During its time as a post office there were also three schools operated here: The Elmwood School District No 4; The Crawford School District No 3; And The Atherton School District No 2 which closed operation circa 1978 when all district boundaries were changed to rejoin those now within Kenosha County limits . From 1865 through 1966 there also existed an affiliated branch library here called the Central Library Of Eastern Wisconsin Branch #2 which had several locations including Oneonta & Menomonee Falls before moving to downtown Cedarburg following renovation efforts led by keyboardist Don Weisner late 1980s into 1990s . There have been numerous attempts over recent years by developers or others interested in building something close to downtown but no substantive progress has been made despite investment totaling over $1 million dollars so far
Cedarburg was founded in 1836 by Captain James A. Cedar and his wife, Mrs. Sarah K. Cedar. The first post office was established in 1837, and the name of the town changed to Cedarburg in 1841. The Cedar County Bank was chartered in 1843, and the first store on Main Street opened in that year. In 1870, the first church was built and named First Congregational Church of Cedarburg. In 1871, a school was built and named Elmwood School District No. 1; it operated until 1975 when it merged into the neighboring district. In 1944, Cedarburg became part of Racine County as its population increased with World War II fury across eastern Wisconsin due to ↑the influx of workers from Minden, New Mexico who were ↑a major factor ↑in driving up prices for goods at local businesses
