Navy gifts have been a part of the Wisconsin Navy community for many years. The Marine Corps Association (MCA) is the oldest navy gift society in America, and its members have given back to the Milwaukee Naval Shipyard since 1889. They also donated some of their surplus equipment to be used at the MCA Training Center, which has helped improve military training opportunities for local sailors. The USS Beaver Dam was named in honor of this group in 1978. The ship served as a mentor and training vessel for local naval cadets during their service academies. In 1984, she was donated to the Wisconsin Navy via donation from Admiral James Wohlstetter Jr., Commandant of the Marine Corps Reserve Fleet Forces Pacific Fleet. Now known as Museum museum number 722-1, she is open to visitors on a regular basis and offers educational exhibits about US Naval History and Heritage.

The Navy gave Beaver Dam, Wisconsin its first naval base in 1855. It was then that the town began to prosper as a defense and commercial center for the area. In 1915, the United States Congress designated Beaver Dam as an airbase. The Base remained in use until it was closed in 1961.
Beaver Dam is a small town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,088 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Beaver River and is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The first European to visit Beaver Dam was Father Jacques Marquette in 1672, who named it for his friend and mentor, Sir John Beaven. The community began as a fur-trade post on the north side of the river where Native Americans traded beaver pelts. A sawmill was built in 1854 and became a keystone industry in the early years of its operation. In 1868, when railroads were extended into this area, Beaver Dam became an important gateway onto those tracks. In 1902, local farmer Leland Wirth opened a small grocery store on what is now First Street between Washington and Elm Streets; he also started building farmhouses there which remain intact today. By 1907, Wirth had developed what would become known as “the Village”; he purchased land from other landowners around town for use as open space and made improvements to it including Heublein Hall (now used as a library), which still stands today; he also built two churches – one Congregationalist and one Lutheran – and donated them to the townspeople. WWII interrupted Beaver Dam's development until after 1945 when new housing developments cropped up all around town due to wartime demand for housing by workers in nearby factories that produced munitions plants; however much of original architecture has been preserved over time including Heublein Hall (now used as a library). Following World War II efforts by local officials to revive agriculture through research programs led by then-town official Jay Naylor failed until 1979 when state funding was available for agricultural planning initiatives across Door County which led to Beaver Dam being identified as an Agricultural Research Center Site.; over time various types of agricultural production have been attempted here such as corn oilseed production (grazing animals on land leased from farmers) which has been successful but eventually discontinued due to environmental concerns idyllic setting with rushing waterfalls & rich soils perfect for crops

Beaver Dam is a town in Webster County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census. The name comes from Beaver Dam Creek. The first mention of Beaver Dam appears to be in 1825 when John Armstrong wrote about the place in his travelogue of that year. In 1854, James Hargrave wrote about the place and its industry in his book "Wisconsin Pioneer Histories." early residents included fur traders and missionaries who came through the area on their way to preach Christianity to Native Americans. The town's first meeting was held on October 10th, 1855. In 1857, a dam was built upstream of present-day Beaver Dam by the French Missionary Society for irrigation purposes. It remain an important part of local agricultural history until it was destroyed by flooding during a heavy rainfall in 1965 which damaged many homes and businesses along the banks of Beaverdam Creek. Beaverdam passed into private hands and declined as an agricultural community until 1978 when it became part of Webster County government under the terms of then-Governor Tommy Thompson's program known as "Municipal Renewal". In 1984, Dutch Bros., a grocery store chain with stores throughout Wisconsin started operations here with plans to open more than 100 stores over several years; however, due to low shopping malls opening up at that time and other factorsDutch Bros.'s plans were never realized and he eventually closed all his stores within two years while they were still open inside Beaverdam Mall - one of only two mall anchors left in central Webster County after Walmart opened up throughout most of rural county shortly afterwards (the other being Wausau). Today there are few remaining buildings from early days aside from some barns used for storage or occasional use by farmers today but much has changed since those days including changes in technology such as advances in online ordering which have allowed even further reductions in retail space required for traditional brick-and-mortar locations combined with continuing suburban growth throughout much of rural Webster County which now gives rise both to new shopping malls (e.g., Cedar Rapids Mall) as well as small towns dotting these same rural boundaries (e.g., Maple Grove), making it difficult for smaller communities like Maple Grove to keep pace with this trend without seeking out mass transit options like railroads or boat trips instead - something that Beaverdam may very well find itselfA future article will explore what type mass transit options might be available should efforts fail to attract either freight or passenger trains back into town given its importance within central Webster County
