Some famous local establishments that offer small-batch Coffee include The Kaffeeklasse at 257 Main Street, which is considered one of the most iconic locations forsmall-batch coffee in town; The Bauhaus on State Street; and The Mayfair Cafe on Cedar Avenue near Wausau University. In addition to providing an opportunity for customers to try different coffees from around the world, small-batch coffee has also become a popular way to support local businesses. The first coffee beans were grown on the property of Nathan Witt in Baraboo, Wisconsin in the early 1800s. The Witt family started a small plantation that grew coffee and sold it to other families. In 1853, the first post office in Baraboo was established and the town began receiving mail from other towns in southern Wisconsin. By 1870, Baraboo had a population of around 100 people. In 1916, George Peake opened his Peake Coffee Company in Baraboo. The company became one of the largest coffee companies in America and exported its products all over the world. In 1957, Harry's Coffee Corporation was founded by Harry Smithson with a goal of becoming the world's leading coffee company. The company became known for its high-quality beans and roasted products throughout North America and Europe.
Baraboo, Wisconsin is a small town in the Driftless Area of the US state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Milwaukee metropolitan area. The first European to visit what is now Baraboo was Giambattista Vico in 1634. The first white settler in what is now Baraboo was Nicholas Snively, who arrived in 1815 and built a cabin on the present-day site of his current home. A post office called Baraboo was established in 1846, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1908. The town has been inhabited by Native Americans for centuries, and there are many remains from that time including ancient tombs and tools used during winter times. In 1792, Samuel Gray organized a militia to protect settlers from aboriginal attacks near where he lived on the Racine River. After successful campaigns against Creek Indians and French Canadian forces over several years, Gray's militia reached their destination east of present-day Baraboo on December 27, 1794; however, they were unable to suppress an uprising led by Chief Wacomack which began on January 4 that year and continued until February 25th. One hundred men from Gray's militia were killed or scalped during this uprising while attempting to reinforce their companion force under Captain John Strother at Battle of Sun Prairie (present day Milwaukee). Aftermath of Wacomack Rebellion: Gray's unit had come too late; all but twelve men were massacred as they retreated through snowdrifts towards Green Bay rather than surrendering. This event became known as "the Massacre of Greys". The Treaty of Stonington ceded most or all of modern-day Wisconsin to France after its victory at Saratoga Campaign (1797). This treaty provided for French missionaries to be stationed throughout North America with powers to purchase land parcels upon completion of their missions; thus, bartering between Indian groups occurred among various indigenous nations during this time period which contributed greatly to peace within these regions.-A group consisting mostly Englishmen(led by General David Ford) invaded northern Illinois November 5th 1798 while Marquette’s expedition was still going full throttle westward across Lake Michigan - resulting ultimately with an attack by more than 1000 warriors/rioters under Coligny against 250 British regulars commanded by Major Andre Michaux at Peoria April 14th 1800 just southwest(of) Chicago

Baraboo is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Fox River west of Milwaukee. The population was 4,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Racine metropolitan area. The town was named for General John Baraboo, who served as commander in chief of American forces in Europe during World War I and later became president of the United States from 1921 to 1923. The first Europeans to visit Baraboo were French voyageurs in 1672 and 1673. German traders established a trading post near present-day downtown Baraboo in 1764; it was abandoned due to Indian raids soon after its founding. A land grant from Louis XVI to Simon Krieger in 1782 allowed for development of a wagon road leading east from Milwaukee that crossed the Fox River at what is now Baraboo. Development began immediately, with livestock being driven east by wagon train overland to be sold at local markets and then transported by water to points north or south along the river valley. In 1836, James Bridgwater donated 1,000 acres (400 hectares) of land near what is now downtown Baraboo for a college called Marquette University (now Northwestern University). The university's first building was constructed on this donation: a log cabin known as "The Old Taylor House." In 1838, locals built a log store and Post Office on State Street between Third Avenue and State Street (now First Avenue), which remains one of town's most prominent buildings today. In 1846, residents voted to rename their borough "Barabooshire" following an investigation into barber shops operating within Racine County limits without required city inspection or licensing; these shops were considered abusive practices by some residents and caused public outcry among other businesses owners within the greater Racine community that had not yet received similar treatment when inspectors visited their stores). After several more years of debate surrounding this name change proposal – including consideration by both houses of Congress – it finally passed both chambers with only minor changes late in life under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal administration; today's namesake borough officially adopts its current name on November 2nd each year following mayor proclamation (# 9158). A post office called Carpentersville was established at what is now downtown Baraboo sometime before 1800 but failed because no one wanted to go there! In 1849 Locust Grove Township formed from parts of Whitewater Township after those towns merged becoming incorporated together according to section 538(a)of the Wisconsin Constitution effective January 1st 1850 . The city began to grow rapidly in the early 1800s, thanks to the fur trade and its location on the Great Lakes region. In 1851, Baraboo was incorporated as a town. The economy of Baraboo steadily grew through the years, thanks to its position on the main route between Chicago and Milwaukee. In 1910, Baraboo became a part of the new United States state of Wisconsin. The city continued to grow throughout the 20th century, becoming one of the most populous in Wisconsin. In recent years, however, Baraboo has been struggling with economic struggles. In 2016, it lost its status as a city and was merged into Racine County.
