Navy deployed gift history in Baraboo, Wisconsin dates back to 1892. The first gift given by the United States Navy was a Bible from Commodore George Dewey to Rear Admiral John J. Pershing on December 16th, 1892. The USS Constitution served as the flagship of the First Pacific Squadron during World War II and also brought gifts to submarines and other navy ships stationed at Naval Base Milwaukee. From 1938 until 1945, Naval Base Milwaukee hosted the largest naval exercise in world history known as " Mare Island Exercises". In 1957, Naval Base Milwaukee became home to Naval Air Station Joint Forces Europe (NAVAFE). This facility served as the main radar station for Allied air forces during NATO's bombing campaign against Yugoslavia that began on April 6th, 1967. In 1992, NAVAFE transferred its operations to Baraboo and remains an active navy base currently providing support for maritime forces throughout Wisconsin and Illinois including Operation Neptune Spear which is deploying U.S. Marine Corps Forces Afghanistan into Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of our NATO allies there!

Baraboo, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The population was 6,569 at the 2010 census. The name "Baraboo" was first applied to what is now Baraboo Township by General William Jourdan in 1834. It derives from an Algonquin word meaning "a place where many Bears live." The townsite at present day Baraboo was laid out by John Prentice in 1836 and named for General William Jourdan, who had fought during the Mexican-American War and later served as governor of Illinois. At first, only men were allowed to build here; but with the opening of new roads it became increasingly a towneer's village until after World War II it became completely integrated into the larger municipality of Milwaukee. According to local legend, when news reached Milwaukee that Lake Michigan was about to be filled with water created by melting glaciers, Mayor George Stephenson ordered all residents west of I-94 (then called State Highway 5) to leave their homes on November 5th, 1947. This order caused great panic among those east of I-94 because they thought their homes would have been destroyed if they evacuated before the lake filled up completely. In fact only a few small villages (Elyria, Mayfair and White Oak) were lost; most were rebuilt within minutes or hours following Stephenson's orders - making this one of America's earliest examples of rapid reconstruction after natural disasters such as hurricanes or earthquakes

The town of Baraboo, Wisconsin was founded in 1834 by Isaac Brock. The town grew rapidly due to the fur trade and early settlers. In 1857, the town was renamed Baraboo after John F. Baraboo, a United States Senator from Illinois. The population of Baraboo increased rapidly during the 19th century thanks to its location near Lake Michigan and its transportation options by boat or train. In 1907, the city of Milwaukee annexed the village of Baraboo and it ceased to exist as an incorporated town. Today,Baraboo is a census-designated place (CDP) with a population of 5,811 people as of 2010. The origins of what is now Baraboo date back to 1834 when Isaac Brock settled in what is now known as Carver County on the north side of Lake Michigan. He named his new community after his father-in-law John Farragut, who had died in 1825 at age 33 while exploring Georgian Bayou near present day Chicago Heights, Illinois.Farragut had been captain general on USS Constitution (1797-1801), which served in several campaigns against Spanish forces during the War for Independence and had explored much of North America before his death at sea on July 4th off Canada's Quebec coast two years earlier at age 31 from wounds received during that conflict aged just 24 years old become only one man among many Americans serving in that long struggle for independence from British rule In 1857, when the Town Of Carver Was Named For John Farragut & His Wife Esther Atwater After They Arrived From Canada To Settlement Near Racine WI (& Now On Doorsteps In Racine) It Appears As If Polk Jr Became President When That Year’s Country voted & Our Dad’s Name Came Out First!(Which We Know Because I Found A plaque Near The entrance To One Of My Schools Which Says So) But There May Be More Evidence Than That… Anyway Here’s What We Believe happened:After The American Revolution Ended & General James Kippey took over command Of Our Army Who Returned Home To Makepeace With Great Britain—Also Known As “The Lewis And Clark Expedition” Completed By All Due Respect To Them Before Taking Off And Going BACK UP THE RIVER MISSISSIPPI)—Then Polk Jr Said To Himself: NOW I Can Call This Place “Barabooski” Or Something Like That! So He Did & It stuck!& Over Time——It Started Being Called “Barboola Rd” OrSomethingLikeThat—But Most Everything Else Has stuck With Us anyways!) One reason why this small community flourished so quickly was because it was located right next door to one of North America's most important shipping points -the Great Lakes - which made getting goods out west easy and cheap In addition to being close to great resources, another big advantage for Baraboo was its location on navigable waterways - making it possible for traders and travelers alike access to these vital routes without having to go far into difficult terrain And finally, despite its small size – due largely to factors such as low population density –Barboola enjoyed some unique aspects that other smaller settlements did not have including a school system and water supply . During its early days there were no railroads running through or through nearby Milwaukee so residents relied heavily on boats going up Lake Michigan or down capturing canals dug throughout their area .
