The Reserve was formed to provide a reserve of manpower for the United States military during World War II. The first Marines deployment to Baraboo occurred on December 16th 1941 when a detachment of Marines arrived at the town to help with the defense of Kimball Point. From there they were called back to San Francisco where they trained for war. The first unit permanently stationed in Wisconsin was Company D of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines who arrived in Milwaukee on February 6, 1942. During their time in Wisconsin they participated in amphibious assaults against Japanese positions at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. They also served as an artillery battalion providing fire support for American troops during Operation Overlord which ended with Japan's surrender. After World War II ended, many Marines returned home but Company D remained inactivated at Camp Lejeune until reactivated again on October 14, 1948 as part of Marine Barracks Washington located within Fort Meade near Baltimore Maryland. On November 1st 1951 Company D moved from Fort Meade to Marine Barracks Wausau and changed its name to 7th Battalion (Marine) marines after being attached to 3rd Infantry Division (3rd Brigade Combat Team). Reactivating as a battalion under 2nd Marine Division command resulted in it moving back downriver from Wausau and becoming 7th Regiment (Marine) marines on January 8, 1953 attachments once again falling under 3rd Infantry Division command before finally retiring from active duty effective July 1st 1954 having served throughout most of World War II including Korea and Vietnam

Baraboo, Wisconsin is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,070 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest municipality in Wisconsin and the second-smallest city in Wisconsin. The community is located on Baraboo Peninsula, which forms an arm of Lake Michigan between Racine and Milwaukee to the north and Kenosha to the south. The first people to live here were Lenape who called it "Barracuda" because they saw a large fish thereabouts during their travels through this area in 1638-9. They also built some early homes hereabouts but soon abandoned them for better environments back east on Turtle Bayou (now part of Milwaukee). By 1836, when European settlers started arriving here from various parts of Canada, Baraboo was already a prosperous village with over 120 residents and two steamboats running on its river system delivering goods all around the peninsula! In 1852, when General John Cavanaugh erected his military post near present day downtown Baraboo on land donated by J[ohn] Kapp as part of General Cavanaugh's Rancho San Rafael de la Portezuela grant he named after himself - Baraboo became one of nine towns incorporated into Racine County within three years following its incorporation! In 1902, due to increased trade along Lake Michigan's southern shoreline brought about by increasing industrial development in that locality - including manufacturing plants operated by W[eldon] Lucas & Sons Paper Merchants Incorporated - Racine City annexed much of what had once been Baraboo Township so as not to duplicate or outsource those activities! Additionally during this time many farmers moved from rural areas into more urban settings throughout southeastern Wisconsin due to agricultural productivity advancements resulting from new inputs such as irrigation water provided by canals ringed with locks derived from natural resources like sandstone boulders found nearby! Today many aspects associated with earlier eras still remain prevalent within today’s society such as agricultural production; however businesses have since relocated away from downtown/ Peninsula areas becoming more dispersed throughout Racine County.

Baraboo is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the eastern shore of Lake Superior. The population was 7,691 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kenosha County, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Baraboo" likely comes from a Native American word meaning "Black River." The first settler in what is now Baraboo was John Ketchum, who arrived in 1792 and named it after his home parish in Normandy, France. In 1851, John Aiken bought land around present-day Baraboo and began to build a sawmill there. By 1875, Baraboo had become an important commercial center on the lake with both retail and manufacturing businesses catering to customers from throughout the United States and Canada. In 1936, President Franklin D Roosevelt appointed George Norris as administrator for Indian Affairs in Minnesota so that he could better understand and deal with reservations among American Indians east of the Mississippi River. He recommended that Congress set up an Indian trust system to care for these tribes living east of that river instead of just giving them individual allotments of land like those given to European settlers. This idea gained public support when it was put forward by Senator Borah (D-Utah) during hearings before the Senate Subcommittee on Indian Affairs chaired by Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada). Under this proposal, many more tribe members would be able to receive benefits than had been available under earlier tribal administration policies such as forced assimilation or boarding schools.
