The business grew and prospered, eventually becoming known as Swiss Coffee Company. In 1907, a group of American businessmen purchased the Swiss Coffee Company and renamed it Dutch Coffee. This new ownership led to increased production and diversity within the company's products, as well as its growth into one ofWisconsin's leading coffee companies. In 1937, Dutch Coffee merged with another Wisconsin-based coffee company, Caffe Nero, which gave rise to Appleton's current gourmet coffee reputation. Over time, Dutch Coffee has made consistent contributions to Wisconsin cuisine through its wide range of products - from espresso drinks to hot chocolate - and continues to produce world-class coffee beans for its customers around the globe.
Appleton is a town in Grant County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,677 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Grant County. The first permanent settler in what would become Appleton was James Widdowson in 1836. A post office was established there on July 4, 1840, and named for John Appleton (1792-1856), an early settler and namesake of the town. The first township was organized in 1854, and the present town was founded by proslavery supporters as a safe haven from slavery during the midwestern Unions' Civil War efforts. In 1867, Appleton became part of Wisconsin's newly formed Union Statehood movement; it did not secede until December 14, 1889 when it joined with Racine to form Racine County. During World War II, Appleton played an important role as a munitions plant located near Fort Snelling on Lake Superior. After the war ended in 1945, many factory jobs were lost to automation; but since 1990s Appleton has seen revitalization with new development including two major shopping malls and a new high school campus

Appleton, Wisconsin is a small town located in the Ozaukee County of Wisconsin, United States. The population was 539 at the 2010 census. It lies on the south bank of the Fox River and has a total area of 11 square miles (27 km²). The town began as Appleton Township in 1836. It became an incorporated village in 1902. The name "Appleton" came from two early settlers, Augustus Fenton and his brother-in-law Amos Appleman, who were among the first to come to what is now Appleton in 1836. They called their settlement "Apple Tree." The first post office was established at Apple Tree in 1837. In 1865, John Wistar bought title to land east of present-day Appleton and founded Wistarville downstream on the river's right bank. He named his community after himself and other early investors including Cyrus McCormick and James Gadsden. In 1870, Wistarville had a population of 150; by 1880 it had grown to over 600 people. A fire destroyed most of Wistarville in 1886 but not before it had become one ofWisconsin's largest towns with a population over 1,000 people

However, during the American Civil War (1861-65), the townships of Clinton and Green Bay were taken by Union forces, causing a significant decrease in population. During Reconstruction (1867-75), many residents left for new opportunities in America. Afterward, appleTON experienced a rapid growth period throughout the 20th century with an increase in population to over 30,000 by 2000.
