There is no one single definition of what gourmet coffee refers to. However, over time, the term has come to refer to high-quality coffee beans that have been hand-selected and roasted by experienced roasters in a way that produces a unique flavor profile. One of the earliest references to gourmet coffee can be found in an article from 1892, which noted that coffee was being served at restaurants as an appetizer or dessert. In 1907, The New York Times reported on a group of Italian businessmen who had opened a restaurant in New York City called Il Gondolo that specialized in fresh roasted Arabica beans. This event marked the beginning of what would become known as the gourmet coffee movement. Over the years, there have been numerous other successful attempts at creating this type of specialty coffee experience for consumers. One such example is Starbucks, which pioneered the concept of using only world-class beans when opening its first store in Seattle in 1997. Over time, Starbucks has expanded its brand into other countries and released multiple iterations of their espresso drinks that are now considered classic favorites around the world.
Coffee has been around for over two thousand years and it is still enjoyed by many people today. There are many different types of coffee and each one has its own unique flavor and benefits.
