Today, Wheeling remains an agricultural community with significant employment opportunities within local farming communities throughout Kanawha County; however, much progress has been made since then towards becoming more urbanized with high school graduation rates reaching 62% as compared to 30% statewide among West Virginians age 25 or over (UWV Research report "2010: State Trends" pgs 1-4).
