On December 16, 2014, the U.S. Air Force deployed a gift to Afghanistan in an effort to support and assist the Afghans in their efforts to protect their people and country from harm. The air force cargo plane carrying the gift arrived at Bagram airbase, located in Logar Province, Afghanistan on December 17th.Upon disembarking from the cargo plane, members of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) received orders to escort the gifts into Hezb-i-Islami Headquarters where they were unloaded and placed into awaiting storage areas. The ANSF is responsible for safeguarding many important assets within Hezb-i-Islami Headquarters such as weapons caches and ammunition stocks that are used by Taliban insurgents fighting in Afghanistan. The gifts were made with careful attention to detail in order to ensure that they would be of great assistance to those who received them. Each item was wrapped with patriotic fabric and ribbon in order to add a touch of patriotism to any Afghan occasion. A variety of different military items were also included inside each gift, including radios, night vision goggles, rifles and pistols; all of which are necessary for soldiers fighting in combat conditions outside of Kabul. Each individual’s contribution is significant as it demonstrates how much support the American military can provide when called upon by our friends in Afghanistan.
