The United States Air Force has been a part of the American society since its inception. The USAF was created on September 18, 1947, when President Harry S Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947. The USAF is a branch of the military that provides aerial support to U.S. combat operations in defense of our country and its interests abroad. It is also responsible for providing airlift and disaster relief within the United States as well as contributing to international assistance efforts. Air Force gift history in Bluefield began with World War I when the United States entered into an agreement with Great Britain to sell planes and fighter planes to help that war effort. After World War II, Congress decided that America needed more bombers and missiles so they passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year (NDAA) in 1949 which allocated $85 million for research, development and construction of new airplanes and missiles across all branches of the military including the USAF. This money was used specifically for creating what we now know as jet aircrafts such as Boeing 747s, Lockheed L-949 Constellations and Northrop Grumman Osprey helicopters among other types of aircrafts. In addition to providing airlift services domestically,the USAF played a significant role during both world wars by using American pilots flying missions over Europe in RAF Spitfires or USAAF P-40 Mustangs while Royal Air Force pilots flew missions against Nazi Germany from bases in England or France respectively. In 1945 alone Allied forces dropped more than 1 million tons of bombs on German targets killing thousands including six thousand Americans! With technology advancements such as jet engines available during this time period it would only be natural for America’s first true supersonic airliner – Concorde – to grace American skies once again after being grounded following its maiden flight aboard British Airways Flight 814 on July 2nd 1976! The Bluefield-based Air Force Association, Inc. (AFA) began giving gifts to the military in 1939. The AFA is the oldest and largest group of its type in the United States. In 1955, the AFA made a donation of four Cessna aircraft to NASA for use in space shuttle missions. This was followed by a donation of seven Boeing 747s in 1976 to support U.S Department of Defense airlift needs. In 1984, the AFA bestowed upon then Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger an honorary award for service to society and his private sector contributions thereto - this was followed by another two 777s donations two years later. In 1990, the AFA bestowed upon then Vice President Dan Quayle an honorary award for service to society and his private sector contributions thereto - this was followed by another two 777s donations also two years later. In 2006, the AFA bestowed upon then Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Michael Jordon a ceremonial award for distinguished Flying Service Achievement - this was followed by another three Airbus 330 airplanes donated that same year as well as one LUV helicopter donated in 2007- these were all part of The Wing's 100th anniversary celebration program which saw over 1,500 aviation gifts given across 10 states throughout America!
Bluefield is a small town in West Virginia, United States. It is the county seat of Mingo County and was founded in 1813. The population was 21,635 at the 2010 census. Bluefield is located on the Blue Ridge Mountains, outside of Wheeling, WV. Prior to its incorporation as a town in 1813, it was known as "Mingo", after the Mingo River that flows through it.

Bluefield is located in the eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and was founded by a group of settlers in 1781. The town was named for the French Bluefields, an area near present-day Bluefield. The first permanent settler in Bluefield was James Robertson, who arrived in 1782.Robertson built his cabin on what is now known as Main Street. In 1785, Robertson married Susana White, who had also come to live in the town. One of Robertson's sons, John White, helped start a wagon wheel factory in nearby Wheeling and eventually became president of the Wheeling Steel Company.Over time, other families moved into Bluefield from various parts of West Virginia. By 1810, most residents were English speaking Irish Americans from Ulster County and Eastern Pennsylvania. slot_id=’1′
The town of Bluefield was founded in 1817 by General James Longstreet. The town was named for the bluegrass region that lay to the north and east of it. Bluefield is the largest settlement in Dayton County and home to the local branch of The Heritage Museum, which opened in 1966.
