When I visited Beckley for the first time several years ago, I was amazed at how many small businesses were still roasting their own coffee. It seems like not too long ago, people only enjoyed their morning cup of Joe out on the porch. Nowadays, there are so many delicious options available that it's hard to pick just one flavor to enjoy every day. But whether you go for smooth jazz or robusta, there is something special about hand-roasted coffee that can't be beat. Like any other industry, coffee has changed over time and even today there are different ways to produce great tasting cups of joe. Even though Beckley may have lost some popularity with tourists recently due to high cost of living and lack of dining options around town (especially if you're looking for Ethiopian waffles!), the community remains staunchly supportive of its local brewing scene. In 1907, an Italian cafe was opened in Beckley and quickly became known as one of the most popular spots in town for espresso and pastries. By 1920, a large grocery store had been founded on Main Street and Beckley's coffeehouses became primarily marketplaces selling small-batch coffees from local farmers. In the early 21st century, several new cafes have opened up around the town of Beckley including The Gristmill Coffee House & Cafe (opened 2006), The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (opened 2009), and The Roastery (opened 2013). These cafes provide a more intense flavor profile than what is available at most traditional convenience stores or gas stations.

Beckley is a small town in Pulaski County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. Beckley was founded in 1877 and named for Samuel Beckley, an early settler and banker in this area. The first post office in Beckley was established on December 3, 1879. The current post office building was built in 1903 and has been operated by the United States Postal Service since that date. In 1907, the town became part of the Coal Fields Union Railroad system which led to its name change to "Beckley". In 1918, during World War I, Beckley joined with nearby Monongalia to form the Battle Creek National Military Reserve which served as a training ground for American troops during the war. After the war ended, most of these reservists were discharged or transferred back to their home states; but some remained in Beckley until it lost its status as a national military reserve after 1971. On October 5, 1902-the day before statehood-Beckley's first municipal election took place; all residents participated except one man who abstained from voting because he did not want his land grant included in the new state Constitution which would have given him voting rights as well as other local officials. That man later became one of Beckelleys incorporators when West Virginia became a state on December 12th of that year On February 8th 1909-just over one year after incorporation-the first general election held under improved election laws took place; all residents participated except for two men who also abstained from voting because they did not want their land grants included within newly adopted city charter which would have given them voting rights along with other city officials In 1930s there were two fires burning near town limits: #1 started by Ottis Gibson on July 10th while camped out near home outside Thurstonville and quickly grew into a massive 100 acre fire that consumed most of town center (and killed 6 people) while #2 started by lightning on February 17th just after dark while standing next to local high school
