Lynden, Washington has a rich and diverse history as a small community in the heart of the Cascade Mountains. The town was founded in 1881 by two men, John Hargrave and Hiram A. Watt, and quickly became an important center for lumber industry, agriculture, and ranching. In WWI, Lynden played an important role in the defense of Seattle against German bombers. In 1948, Lynden was designated as the capital of Washington state by then-Governor Arthur L. Beall. The first national guard unit was organized in Lynden on July 1st of that year. The Lynden Guard Unit has been part of the Washington National Guard since its inception and has seen many changes over the years. Unit members have served both in America's wars and domestically during peacetime periods; they have also participated in several international deployments including Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003), Operation Enduring Freedom (2006), Operation Jade Helm 15 (2015), and World War II reconstruction efforts such asOperation Paperclip (1948). Since its inception, the Lynden Guard Unit has earned numerous awards from both local and federal officials alike. These include medals from both America's Wars—such as a Campaign Medal with Combat "V" Device (2nd Class) and two Distinguished Service Medals—as well as honorary distinction from King County Executive Dow Constantine for his support of military service within our countywide cadre of volunteer firefighters; recognition from King County Sheriff Scott Jones for his dedication to public safety through his department’s partnerships with Major League Baseball; commendations from Governor Jay Inslee for his support of military servicemen within our state’s armed forces; and dozens of other distinctions received throughout its history which can only be summarized by saying that it is one very special group who keeps our community safe at all times!

Lynden is a town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 8,316 at the 2010 census. Lynden is located on the banks of the Wenatchee River and it is home to the Lynden-Fremont High School. The town was named after George Lynden, an early settler. The first permanent people in what would become Lynden were French fur traders who arrived in 1811. They farmed and fished until 1836 when they started trading with the Russian Empire for goods such as horses and bread. The Russian Empire began a building project called Fort Snelling which extended from present day Lynden eastward to present day Mercer Island. This required cutting down trees along the way so that engineers could build roads and bridges necessary for navigation across the river. In 1849, General Isaac Touhy founded Cougar Town on Mercer Island opposite modern day Lynden after he discovered gold there during his military expedition through central Washington Territory during the Mexican–American War. After years of treasure hunting by locals and others throughout central Washington, Touhy's discovery of gold led him to found Cougar Town as a business venture in partnership with other local businessmen including Nicholas Ladd (later owner of Ladd's Brewery), Jacob Perkins (a later president of Western Union), and John Cooke (the builder of Seattle’s first courthouse). Lynden had its start as a small community near Cougar Town but quickly grew due to its location on either side of Puget Sound between Spokane Valley to the north and Olympia Valley to the south; it became one of America’s largest rural towns due not only to its ample land but also because it lay within easy reach of major markets like Tacoma, Seattle, Bellevue, Yakima Falls, Everett (now Bothell), Renton (now Kent) and many more villages or towns across northwestern Washington state when railways reached Centralia in 1889-90. It wasn't until 1908 when dredging operations deepened water levels at nearby Tenkiller Lake – increasing trade opportunities for both commercial shipping through Puget Sound ports like Everett and Sumner upstream while also opening up new fishing grounds around Tenkiller Lake – that finally allowed farmers access enough soil for crops beyond raising hay or raising chickens; this brought about significant growth potential in eastern Thurston County where most farms then were located west of Interstate 5 between Spokane Valley/Olympia Valley/Puget Sound area west past Cheney Reservoir into Muchaland County east past Mount Vernon Reservoir before reaching Thurston County proper including today's Lynden Township within ten miles southeast of downtown Seattle

The Guard was first organized on July 1, 1792 when President George Washington signed the Residence Act into law. This act created the first national guard force in America. The purpose of the National Guard was to provide defense against domestic and foreign threats. In 1861, during the American Civil War, the National Guard was called into service to help protect our country from Confederate soldiers. After the war ended, many people wanted to see how much better our country could be if we had a strong military and emergency services branch that could handle any situation that might arise. Congress passed legislation creating a national guard force once again. The purpose of this new force was to provide security for all Americans while they were not available to fight in their own country’s war or respond to an emergency request from the government. Today, there are over 100 million active duty members of the National Guard in America! Lynden, Washington is a small town in Thurston County, Washington. The population was 514 at the 2010 census. Lynden was founded in 1881 by Methodist missionaries and settlers from Illinois. The community began as a small farming settlement on the banks of the Wenatchee River. In 1886, the United States Post Office established a post office at Lynden and named it after General John A. Lynden who had fought in the Mexican-American War and served as U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Mexico City. By 1912, Lynden had become an agricultural center with more than 120 farms earmarked for wheat production alone. In 1944, during World War II, American soldiers stationed at Fort Lewis relocated to Linden to provide defensive support against Japanese forces operating in the area. The military barracks were used as a civilian school until 1949 when they were converted into barracks for the Thurston County Sheriff's Department which remains operational today (though now managed by PNW Schools). The first occupants of Lynden were Methodists who came from Illinois in 1881 led by Revs John Witherspoon and Alexander Hargrave . They arrived with their families on May 7th and started clearing land on what is now east side of town . This area included present day Wheatland Drive which still stands today where they set up homes before moving onto other land near present day Park Road . One daughter married Archbald Smith , son of David Smith さん who also settled here early (1887) . Three years later another group of Methodist missionaries came downriver from Oregon vicinity called Walla Walla but this time led by Father George Allanson 。 Father Allanson preached about Christianity teaching people how to farm using natural resources such as salmon rivers running through their midst .) On October 26th 1885 Reverend Witherspoon died suddenly leaving his five children behind including Mrs Hargrave 。 After Reverend Witherspoon’s death Mrs Hargrave continued leading her family until 1888 when she married Daniel Toole 、 he being one of seven children born to Nicholas Toole 特律街上の高校教師 father & Mary Ann Toole 高校委員長 mother
Lynden was founded by John and Anna C. Thomas in 1876 as a small town on the banks of the Snake River. The town rapidly grew to become one of the most important trading posts in Northwest Washington, and eventually became a city. In 1905, Lynden was named capital of the newly created State of Washington after the state's creation from the eastern half of Oregon.
