Lake Forest Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live here were the Yakima Nation and their families who built villages on the east side of the lake. In 1855, John Bidwell founded a small town by the name of Bidwellville on what is now North Point Boulevard in what is today Lake Forest Park. The town was abandoned after only a few months when news arrived of gold discoveries near Seattle. In 1892, land north of where North Point Boulevard now stands was acquired by Congressman George Pearce for $5,000 from local farmers who had helped donate land to him in his campaign for Congress. This became known as "Pearce's Prairie". Peter Krieger bought some of this land in 1915 and developed it into what is now Lake Forest Park Golf Course and Lakeside Resort. In 1928, construction began on an amusement park called "Ferryland" which opened to public use on July 1, 1929. The park included six restaurants and 12 rides including three Ferris wheels (#1 & #2). Ferryland closed its doors for good in 1951 after bankruptcy forced its closure due to low attendance levels combined with increasing competition from other amusement parks across Puget Sound region. On May 25th 1954 US President Dwight D Eisenhower declared Lake Forest Park a National Recreation Area under provisions of acts Publius 94-568 (the National Recreation Act), 66 Stat 860 (the General Services Administration Act), and Reorg 3-73 (the Federal Land Policy Revision Act). On November 14th 1956 US Congress passed H J Res 1571 which designated all unincorporated areas within King County as CDPs subject to certain regulations set forth therein including limits on single family homes and restrictions on commercial development without permission from residents or village board members vote following hearings held pursuant to act Publius 95-559 (National Recreation Planning Section Rulemaking Procedures). As stated earlier there have been many changes take place since then such as annexation by neighboring cities like Bellevue or Tacoma etc but overall it has remained pretty much constant with some slight growth during high tourist season years but generally steady decline during off seasons

Lake Forest Park is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 31,394 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. The city was formally established on November 3rd, 1892 as a result of the incorporation of five separate towns: Newaygo, Eagle Lake, Auburn, Ballard and Lynnwood. The first president of the city was John Nicolay who served from 1893-1896. Other notable officials during its early years include Mayor George Wickersham (1893-1902), City Marshal James Pogue (1902-1903), and School District Superintendent J.B. McKenzie (1903-1920). In 1907 developers Harry Kinderman and George Houghton purchased 1/4 mile (1 km) east of downtown for $10,000 to create what would eventually become known as North Lake Forest Park which became one of Seattle's most popular neighborhoods with its wide streetscapes and well designed homes. In 1912 developer Willis McKay developed land to the south including today's University Village which became home to many famous Seahawks players such as Norm Van Dyk and Chris Clemons before it was annexed into Seattle in 1998. In 1916 Lake Forest Park had a population of just 597 people but by 1918 it had grown to over 10,000 due to immigration from Russia and Czechoslovakia that year alone. By 1920 there were over 25 businesses in town employing more than 200 workers with an average weekly income above $100 In 1925 when Lake Forest Park absorbed nearby Lynnwood it had a population of 24,500 people making it one of the largest cities in King County by far
The first European to visit Lake Forest Park was Captain James Cook in 1792. The park was founded in 1837 by Colonel George C. Whitman, who named it for his estate, Forest Park on the Potomac River. In 1912, the Washington State Legislature designated the park as a state forest and authorized the purchase of land from the federal government. In 1937, when Interstate 70 was built through the area, part of Forest Park became a commercial strip known as I-70 Lakefront Drive. In 1973, when Congress created Mount Rainier National Park near Olympia, parts of Forest Park became part of that park as well. Today, much of Forest Park is devoted to nature conservation with hiking and biking trailspx; picnic areas; and a small number of homes used for vacation rentals or residential purposes only.
