Lake Forest Park is a small city in the U.S. state of Washington. It is located on the border of King and Pierce counties, about 30 miles (48 km) east of Seattle. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. The name Lake Forest Park comes from two sources: One is from a small stream called "Lake Forest" because it flowed through the park; and another source came from a man who named his land after his father's forest home in England. The first settler to live in what is now Lake Forest Park was Abraham Funk, who arrived in 1853 with his family. He founded an agricultural farm which became one of the most important areas for farming in King County. Funk and his siblings sold their land to other settlers over time, but they all continued to reside on it until 1913 when they sold it to Harry Averill for $10,000 (). A new town began to form around what would become Lake Forest Park when soldiers traveled through King County during World War I looking for homesite assignments. Lake Forest Park is a small town in Washington state, United States. The population was 5,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lakewood micropolitan statistical area. The townsite was named for James Fenton, who bought it from the Native Americans in 1851. The first post office was established in 1857, and the first store opened in 1865. In 1870, a sawmill and lumberyard were built on the site. In 1892, a general store and railroad station were added to the village. In 1910, the town settled on a resolution to rename itself after James Fenton's son-in-law John Hargrave (1863-1937). After much debate and public comment, they decided to adopt his name as their official name on November 10 of that year. In 1932–33, Lake Forest Park became one of fourteen towns in King County to receive water from newly constructed Seattle Aqueducts. As demand for water grew throughout Western Washington during World War II, Lake Forest Park began purchasing water rights from other municipalities so that it could supply its own community with drinking water without running into conflicts with those municipalities' residents or businesses. When Interstate 5 was completed bypassing Seattle in 1964 and rural King County became more populated than ever before, many people within Lake Forest Park began thinking about whether or not they should move away from their quiet little town – especially since good jobs had become available outside ofSeattle thanks to Boeing’s new facility there which generated over 1 million jobs statewide by 1990 while also contributing $24 billion to King County’s economy – but decided against it because they enjoyed life here too much and felt like their friends were here as well? By 2000 most everyone within LFP had long since moved away except for a few elderly citizens who continue to reside there today knowing that if anything happens to them or any of their successors they will have ample opportunity (and resources) back home where they belong!
Lake Forest Park was founded in 1887 by the merger of two small villages, Carver and Olympia. The community grew rapidly, with an annexe added in 1892. In 1916, the town of Lake Forest Park incorporated as a municipality. In 1933, Lake Forest Park became a state park. In 1988, it joined the National Park Service as a national forest.
