The first time I visited Artisan Coffee was in 1978. My grandparents owned the coffee shop. They used to come into town for work and buy some of the roasted beans from Artisan Coffee and bring them back home with them. My grandfather was such a devotee of Artisan Coffee that he would make his own espresso drinks using only fresh roasted beans. It's still something that we enjoy today - getting our fix of artisan coffee without having to go out of town! Today, Artisan Coffee continues to serve up great tasting coffee every day - whether it's an infusion or a latte! Waynesboro is a small town in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It is located on the south side of the valley, east of Charlottesville and west of Williamsburg. The population was 9,822 at the 2010 census. The first inhabitants of Waynesboro were Native Americans who had been living there for centuries. In 1781, General George Washington and his army met with them in what is now Waynesboro to sign a treaty that ended the American Revolution. After the Treaty of Paris was ratified, many British soldiers were released from prison in America and moved to Waynesboro to help spread revolution here. The first store opened in Waynesboro in 1814. In 1865, when Confederate General Robert Ewell decided to cross the Rappahannock River into Virginia and march on massachusetts City (now Richmond), he ordered his men to burn down one of the bridges over the river near Waynesboro. This destroyed most of what remained of nearby plantations, creating an open space that later became known as "The Field" west of town. During World War II, Waynesboro was home to more than 1,000 members of various military units stationed here during World War II including cavalry troops led by Lieutenant Colonel Harry Huggins and infantry units led by Second Lieutenant Ray Smith; these troops played important roles in helping win World War II against Axis forces.

Waynesboro was founded in 1775 by Captain John Waynes and his men during the American Revolution. The town was named for General George Washington, who had been instrumental in its establishment. The town grew rapidly after the colony of Virginia became a United States territory in 1783. By 1800, Waynesboro had a population of over 1,000 people. The modern-day town is located on the western bank of the Rappahannock River, about 2 miles west of downtown Norfolk. The first permanent settlers in Waynesboro were Captains John Waynes and Richard Ladd. These men built a log cabin on the banks of the Rappahannock River and named it Waysboro after their home county, Virginia. In 1785, Captain John Waynes sold his share of the town to Richard Ladd for $5 per acre. The first store was built in 1807 by Abram Hagerty and Charles Goodrich. It was called The Bottle Shop because it served as a local watering hole for brewers from neighboring townships. This shop became known as The History House because it served as an important educational resource for locals and tourists alike until 1870 when it burned down due to fire damage caused by accidental fireworks display from nearby hillsides. In 1827, Colonel Thomas Jarratt donated land to build what is now known as Jarratt's Landing which serviced as a landing point for refugees coming overland from Canada during the 1830s1840s Indian Wars. The area that is now called Jarratt's Landing was first settled by farmers around 1825 when they began building homes on lots adjoining Colonel Thomas Jarratt's plantation near present day downtown Norfolk. friendly reminder: this spot still has some historical markers! #whitewaterwaynsboro pic.twitter .com/NzNvk8Q1W9 — WAYNESBORO (@WAYNESBORO) December 5, 2018 In 1859, Drury Pemberton donated land to build what is now known as Pemberton's Methodist Episcopal Church which remains one of Norfolk’s most popular tourist attractions today (and one of only two churches remaining standing on original site). Pemberton also donated money towards building schools in Waynesboro and surrounding villages; these schools would become integral parts of local community life throughout much of Victorian America’s history (see School District#2 below). By 1860, there were more than 150 residents living in Waysboro with a smallpox hospital established within its limits just four years earlier to help prevent further spread among its citizens during this time period’s pandemic hysteria (see Note about Smallpox Hospitals below). Waynesboro is a town in Prince George's County, Virginia, United States. Waynesboro was founded in 1777 by Captain John Young of the Virginia Regiment as a small trading post on the Shenandoah River. The town grew rapidly until 1814, when it was destroyed by a fire. It regained its importance after the American Civil War, when General Robert E. Lee passed through Waynesboro on his way to battle at Gettysburg. The town experienced another growth spurt during World War II, with the construction of military buildings and factories. In recent decades, Waynesboro has been decline because of lack of population growth and low economic activity.
