Vienna, Virginia is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. Vienna is adjacent to Fredericktown and Bowie. It is part of the Washington-Baltimore-National Capital Region. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Vienna were two German farmers named Bauer and Wohlgemuth who arrived around 1710. They named their new land "Wien" after the city of Vienna in Austria. In 1712, another pair of German farmers called Müller and Bauer erected a log cabin on a rise overlooking the Potomac River just east of present day Bowie Street. These early settlers built an impressive home that still stands today - it has been called "the Bowman House". In 1814, Nicholas McDowell founded nearby Fredericktown as an agricultural village which he named for his father-in-law General James McDowell who had helped lead British forces during the War of 1812. At the time Fredericktown consisted of about 200 people including about 60 households living in houses made out of earth and small trees thatched with reeds or straw bale roofing. In 1821, Baltimorean lawyer John Marshall bought some property north of Bowie Street from Nicholas McDowell for $1 million dollars which he used as his law office and home until his death in 1875. He also donated land to build City Hall which was completed on May 24th, 1931 by Mayor Thomas J. Farrell Jr.. Vienna is a city in the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 753,621. It is the second most populous city in Virginia after Richmond and has been named one of "America's Top 10" cities by Forbes Magazine. The history of Vienna can be traced back to 1529 when Emperor Ferdinand II of Austria established a Medici court there to support his son Maximilian I, Duke of Bavaria. In 1683, King George III granted Vienna an exemption from English taxes and privileges for five years in order to attract Huguenots fleeing France during the French Revolution. The city became an important trade center with its wool industry and its shipyards that developed into one of the largest in Europe. In 1815, Vienna was incorporated as a municipality with a Vote of No confidence against Napoleon Bonaparte as part of the Austrian Empire under Emperor Francis I. The following year saw major development when Emperor Franz Joseph included it within Hungary as part of his new Kingdom Of Hungary. By 1900, over 60% of Viennese residents were Hungarian-speaking Protestants while Catholics made up 31%. After World War I, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia and lost; accordingly, many Germans moved into Vienna and other parts annexed by Hungary during that conflict such as Pest (now Budapest) which had significant German-speaking populations before 1918. After Austro-Hungarian collapse in November 1918 these same areas became part of Czechoslovakia which gained independence from Austria six months later on 1 December 1918 The first written mention about Vienna comes from Caesar’s Commentarii de Bello Gallico Book XII where he refers to “viam Vesuvii” (the way through Villa Nova). Legend has it that Prince Eugene IV built a bridge over Danube River at this location known today as Ringstraße – now Hundertbergasse – in 1464 AD so that army could move quickly between Upper Danube Basin and Lower Danube Basin without having to go via Prague or Belgrade etc. In 1738 Empress Maria Theresa founded Academy Royal Hungarian State University here because “Benedictine Monks School” (founded by Saint Benedict XV) did not provide teaching opportunities for women outside religious institutions at that time even though nuns had been educated here since 1295 AD! On 25th May 1781 Empress Josepha Paulowna ordered all female students at Imperial University (later renamed University Of Technology) transferred immediately to Charles University due to large number girls enrolling there hitherto! And finally on 26th October 1855 Emperor Franz Josef issued Decree No 5755 ordering all universities throughout Austro-Hungarian Empire closed down because once again many women were enrolling therein! This event marked end for female education within Austro-Hungarian Empire although some institutes continued functioning until 1938 In 1861 Prince Rudolph died childless but his uncle Archduke Rudolf took possessionof Austrian Netherlands including Brussels where Rudolph had lived since 1492 BC when he married Sophia Dorothea OF Burgundy who reigned over him jointly with her father Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI until her death in 1558 AD leaving their realms separable: each ruled over its own territory but both shared sovereignty over each other’s overseas possessions despite their claims to be supreme headship over all Christendom Rudolph therefore decided not onlyto uniteBrusselsandAustriabutalsoto establishAulicemajorityoverhis RealmsontheCounciloftVatican Citywhereheheldungrouped seats(firstlytowardFranceand secondly towardsItalyuntilhisdeathin1859).AtthistimeViennawasstilljustanotherburbankamongseveralcitiesinAustriaalthoughitspopulationhadincreasedfrom50 000}{to 8 million}by 1900!!AlthoughViennawasnotalfromthenoticeitselfattentionwasfocusedonitbecauseofits RoleAsKingOfHungaryDuringWorldWarIANDBecauseItsPopulationWasGrowingquicklyintothe20First decadesofthe20th century!!!DespitethisfocusonViennamanypeoplewerestill astonishedbyits SizeAndInterestInTechnology&ScienceWHICH WAS MAINLYFROM ITS TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCE INDUSTRY AfterWorldWarImostoftheintellectualpropertyintheserverlandgrewuponthetechnologicalcommonsnetwonderfullynamedNational Archivesand Records Administration(NARA), formed outof mergerofthedepartmentsofUfficialDocumentsServicesandPublicationsAffairsdepartmentwhichwerecreatedin1948afterthe disbandingofthetechnologicalcommunityorganizationcalledACMISSIONFORCOMPUTER AND COMMUNICATIONS IN THE EASTERN EUROPEAN UNION)) NARA played an increasingly important role both administratively and historically due To Its growing collections including world class records on technology & science such as electric antibodies used during First World War Manyimportanteventsinhistorical Viennese culture occurred at NARA like first use live TV transmission from roof top by Rufus Isaacs using vacuum tube device called Kameramann am Sonntag 23 Oktober 1948 which led directly tobetweetsfromPresident Harry S Truman Nara also played significant rolesduringThe Second World War such as processing millions tons worthof captured enemy materials like V2 rockets used by Nazis during Holocaust which helped Allied Forces win war
