The Staunton Area Chamber of Commerce has enjoyed positive relationships with several local military installations over the years, including Fort Belvoir and Fort Sumter. In recent years, the chamber has also received donations of equipment from local military bases. ThisOperation Joint Endeavor (OJE) has become somethingof a tradition within the US Military and is seen as a way to show our commitment towards Afghanistan while also helping build a better future for their countrymen- both present and future.

Staunton, Virginia is a small town in western Virginia. It was founded in 1749 by George Washington and his group of settlers. The population was 3,651 as of the 2010 census. The town is located on the Potomac River, about 20 miles west of Washington D.C. The river forms the border between Staunton and Stafford County. Most of the town is built on low hills that overlook the river and its many tributaries. The original settler's colony was organized into three townships: Waverly, Friendship and Upper Staunton Township. On July 1, 1751, all three settlements merged to form one new township called Staunton which included parts of Lower and Upper Stafford Counties as well as most of western Fairfax County. In 1801, a post office was established at Staunton with John Cranch as the first Postmaster-General. In 1861, when Montgomery County was created from parts of Fairfax and Loudoun Counties, part of Staunton became part of that county too; however, it remains an unincorporated community within Montgomery County today
