Army gift history in Staunton, Virginia stretches back to the Revolutionary War. General George Washington formed an artillery regiment in 1775 and enlisted Irishmen, Scots-Irish, and Loyalists to arm his army. The regiment was known as the 1st Battalion of Mounted Riflemen. In 1812, the 1st Battalion was redesignated as the 2nd Battalion of Mounted Riflemen and became part of the 5th Infantry Regiment. In 1861, Confederate General Robert E. Lee called for all Americans to rise up against the Yankees. As a result, many Union soldiers Became disenchanted with their service and deserted or were court-martialed for desertion. Some soldiers who had served faithfully converted to Confederate service and conducted guerrilla warfare against their own government until they were surrendered at Appomattox Court House in 1865. Most soldiers from Staunton returned home after the war ended but a small number stayed behind to form militias that patrolled local roadsides until 1881 when order was restored by Ulysses S Grant's administration. The first post office in Staunton opened on May 12, 1820; it is still in operation today. Captain John Aiken founded what is now known as First United Methodist Church on Main Street in 1825; he served as its first pastor. The present church building was dedicated on October 15, 1915 by Rev. Wm Treadwell Channing with special ceremony being held by then-Governor Woodrow Wilson who also officiated at the dedication ceremony honoring Captain Aiken's memory and those of other early settlers including Reverend Drury Laddsbury (president), Colonel John Woolridge (major general),Judge James Mott ( recorder)and Mrs. Josephine Mason (founder). In 1830 Lieutenant Colonel Augustus Higginson organized a company from Virginians serving with Mexican forces under General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna at Vera Cruz during Mexico’s Revolution against Spanish colonial rule On November 25th 1830 Lt Col Higginson Company came into action destroying most of Rancho San Miguel y Santiago north side destroyed about 400 homes total Captain Thomas Peebles volunteered his unit 9 men Sept 3rd 1800 near dallas txcalled outpost duty we fought there 4 days Tue morning skirmish lost one man killed our Capt Peebles been promoted he went back out again next day

The Staunton Confederate Militia Regiment was organized on May 1, 1861. It was the first unit raised in Staunton and is still active today. The regiment fought in the First and Second Virginia War, as well as the Mexican-American War.
Staunton is a town in Virginia, United States. The population was 9,902 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Richmond– Fredericksburg, VA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Staunton is located northwest of Richmond on the James River and east of Lynchburg on the Appomattox River. The town was founded by planters in 1772 as Thoroughgoods Neck Plantation and named for Sir John Thoroughgood, 4th Baronet. In 1801, Staunton became part of Culpeper County and then Middlesex County until it was merged with Fairfax County in 1924 to form Virginia's largest county by area. The first European settlers in what is now Staunton were German Protestants who arrived about 1772 from Hanover Township, Lower Saxony. They called their community "Thoroughgoods Neck." In 1784 they sold their holdings to Granville Parish for $8,000 cash and built a new plantation known as Unity near present-day downtown Staunton. This plantation comprised 640 acres (248 hectares) which included parts of present-day downtown Staunton and parts of modern day Lynchburg and Herndon counties. In 1800, three brothers - George Washington Parke Custis III (1762-1847), John Parke Custis III (1764-1851) and Richard Henry Lee (1767-1849) - purchased Unity from Granville Parish for $10 million dollars becoming henceforth owners of one third of all slaves owned in North America outside Africa before 1860 when that slave trade ended with the American Civil War. These men had been educated at Emancipation Hall in London under Scottish Enlightenment educator Drury Lane Professor Thomas Jefferson during his time as US Minister to Spain between 1804-08 where he learned much about slavery while living among Spanish colonists there prior to his appointment as President Of The United States from 29 July 1809 until 5 November 1813; after becoming President he outlawed slavery throughout most of America including newly acquired Territories expansion into which he had nominally granted land westward including Slavery being practiced by Mexican & Native Americans under Spanish colonial rule prior To His inauguration On 15 January 20BA). After gaining political power over both houses He ordered gradual emancipation starting with those held within Confederate states along With immediate emancipation taking place within Union states For all others There would be no 'Emancipation' But rather gradual emancipation via apprenticeship programs Which began immediately upon His assumption Of office And formally ended freedom Of African Slaves Within One Year Following His inauguration Became law On 6 February 1850 Prohibiting further Expansion Of Slavery By any Entity In America Ended forever All Private Property Held As Slave Labor Was Abolitionized thereby Making America A White National Monopoly! On 3 May 1865 Abraham Lincoln signed legislation abolishing slavery throughout most OF AMERICA concurrent With His Emancipation Proclamation!!

Staunton, Virginia is a small town located in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The population was 3,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria metropolitan area. The town was first settled in 1810 by Quakers. In 1814, Staunton became the capital of Prince George’s County and it retained this status until 1870 when it was replaced by Fredericktown as the county seat. The first school in Staunton was built in 1811 and the first teacher was Mrs. Hester Beecher. In 1865, Staunton became an independent city under the name of Alexandria after becoming a state capital following passage of the Maryland Constitution which gave its citizens voting rights and other benefits。 In 1916, during World War I, General John Jellicoe ordered all military installations within 100 miles to be closed because Of gas issues that had arisen from munitions being produced in nearby nations such as Russia. This order stopped traffic on roadways leading into or out of Alexandria so much so that many residents had to walk or take public transportation to their jobs outside of Alexandria proper; including Mr. John Lewis who lived two blocks away from his job as a machinist at Bethlehem Steel Company on New Hampshire Avenue NW.). After World War I ended and hostilities ceased there were some efforts made to revive commerce in Staunton through establishment of businesses like Father Abraham’s grocery store which opened up along with several other stores throughout prince Georges County during this time period). However these ventures only lasted for a few years before they tooorrquered due to technological advances like television which began arriving here beginning around 1951)>. In 1969, Kingfisher Airlines vacated its facility at Dulles Airport after 35 years and moved its operations to Stroudsburg Airport where they continue today as United Airlines.}> After more than three decades as an airport serving Prince George’s County with little change beyond expansions and expansions (the current terminal opened in 2006), On July 1st., 2006 United Airlines announced plans to demolish both terminals suffered from low ridership rates (-40% since 2005)}.
