The National Guard of the United States of America, or simply the National Guard, is a term used to refer to both the military component of the U.S. national security apparatus and its civilian counterpart, which includes state militias and self-defense forces. TheGuard was activated on September 15th, 1689 as part of George Washington's Continental Army in response to the outbreak of war with France that began two weeks earlier. After serving in various roles throughout the American Revolution and into post-Revolutionary War period until 1814 when it was disbanded due to lack of manpower, it was reactivated under President James K. Polk in 1898 as part Sixty fourth parallel Infantry Regiment (Ohio Volunteers). The regiment served during World War I as Company A2/9th Infantry Battalion (New Mexico), then Companies A1/3rd Infantry Battalion (Oklahoma), then Company A2/5th Infantry Battalion (Texas) before being redesignated Company G at war's end as part of World War II reclamation effort for Missouri Valley region. In 1946 company G became Headquarters and Headquarters Battery 1st Battalion 5th Marines when these units were combined under Marine Air Group Eighteenth at Quantico Naval Air Station Virginia Beach Va., until their reactivation by Marine Corps Reserve Squadron One Hundred Seventy-Six at Quantico in 1957. On July 14, 1958 company HHB became Headquarters and Headquarters Battery 2d Battalion 5th Marines when these units were combined with Marine Air Group Nineteen at NAS North Island Hawaii resulting in battalion designation change from HHB to 2d Bn 5th Marines effective October 1, 1958. From its activation through World War II up until 1951 all unit insignia were white except those worn by members on duty while deployed overseas; thereafter they were adorned with a green cloth garrison patch incorporating a stylized soldier wearing full dress gear carrying an assault rifle over his left shoulder holding a staff with either one hand or both fingers extended upward above his headshield similar to that worn by an enlisted member on duty within the continental United States army Beginning in 1951 all unit insignia reverted back to white except those worn by members on duty while deployed overseas In 1961 however unit insignia underwent amendment which changed typeface so black lettering no longer appeared above red enameled globe superimposed upon white background On November 25, 1966 Units emblems were revised which changed font style also In 1978 service motto "Nemo me impune lacessit" replaced "Semper Fidelis" seen prior thereto

Front Royal, Virginia is a town in Page County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Page County. The first permanent settlement in what is now Front Royal was made by George Washington and his men on July 24, 1775 during their march from Alexandria to Fredericktown in present-day Prince William County. The town was named after him and it served as his headquarters for several weeks while he waited for reinforcements to arrive from General Thomas Gage's army marching through Fairfax County. On December 12, 1775, Washington ordered the erection of a redoubt at Front Royal to protect against British attack should they decide to cross the Potomac River into Loudoun County from Maryland. Washington also ordered that a toll be placed on passage across the river by those bringing goods or passengers downriver from Northern Virginia. In 1812 Front Royal became part of Rappahannock Colony when that colony was established by order of President James K. Polk as an attempt to extend US jurisdiction over land east of the Potomac River which had been claimed by Britain since 1607 pursuant to Treaty of Paris following the American Revolution. After Union victory in the Mexican–American War (1846–1847), front royal reverted back to its original name—Front Royal—on November 15, 1848 when it became part of newly created Page County. In 1861 Confederate forces unsuccessfully attacked our defenses near present day Kelly Branch while Union troops were besieging Fort Wagner; this led directly to Civil War war and resulted in 10 deaths on both sides at Front Royal including 7 Confederate officers and 5 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded and 3 soldiers captured alive who later surrendered unconditionally). Today FrontRoyal is home primarily to farmers with some small businesses providing services such as sales and marketing operations for local farms; however there are also a few restaurants, stores and other businesses located throughout town which have become popular among residents because they offer good food at reasonable prices without sacrificing quality or service
The National Guard has a long and rich history of providing service to the United States. The first National Guard unit was activated in 1792 as the 1st Connecticut Volunteers and served until 1802. The 1st Rhode Island Volunteer Infantry also served from 1792-1800. In 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt called for the creation of a national guard system as an adjunct to the military. A bill was passed in 1904 that created the firstnational guard unit, the 106th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The regiment served until 1916 when it was disbanded due to World War I. In 1920, Congress authorized the formation of general duty units specifically for function within state militias under certain conditions such as proof of enrollment and passage of a resolution by both houses of Congress authorizing army enlistments for members thereof during any war or emergency declared by Congress not exceeding one year in duration). On July 24, 1921, Governor Charles Evans Hughes activated 2nd Massachusetts National Guard at Boston’s Freedom Trail Site following passage of legislation authoring state militia organization during times of peace or insurrectionary activity by other states(the act had been referred to as “National Guards Bill”). The unit served through World War II before being disbanded on September 3, 1945. The next step was authorization for activation of special forces units which were designated on October 15, 1951 as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear (the Korean Conflict) which began with U-2 overflights over North Korea and ended with Secretary Bundy announcing that all American POWs were repatriated without further notice on December 15th after more than two years captivity. This marked the end of American involvement in combat operations outside Asia from 1950-1953 . Thereafter activation proceeded slowly with only 172d Wisconsin National Guard activated on November 29, 1958 at Racine Michigan under commandof Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Tilton – becoming operational on December 12th following completion Of airborne training at Pope Air Force Base In preparation For deployment To Grenada where State Sovereignty Over island had been questioned By United Nations At Pointe aux Puves Naval Station It became apparent That More Men Than anticipated Were needed So MajGen Forrest J Ackerman ordered mobilization Of entire State Militia Heading Toward Trinidad And Tobago Which Happened On January 12th 1959 After Invasion By Cuban Forces Against Dominican Republic As Result OfMissouri Compromise With Havana Agreement There Were Now 35 US Troops stationed In Dominican Republic And Nassau Bahamas !

The Guard has evolved into a more than just an arm of the military, with roles in homeland security, disaster relief, and community service.
Front Royal is a small town located in Caroline County, Virginia. The population was 1,819 at the 2000 census and 2,036 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lynchburg, Virginia Metropolitan Statistical Area. Front Royal was founded by Virginians in 1775 as New Market Settlement on the banks of the Rappahannock River. In 1802 it became a part of Richmond County and in 1861 became part of Fairfax County when that county was created from parts of Richmond and Henrico counties. The town's rich history began with its early settlers who arrived in1775. They were primarily farmers but some also engaged in trade with other settlements along the river. By 1800 Front Royal had a store, blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and 5 households. The first settler to built a permanent home here was James Fenton who arrived in 1784 and erected a log cabin on what is now known as Old Main Street. He may have named his property after his native home near Edinburgh, Scotland which he visited while living there for several months during 1783-1784 as part of his business travels across North America for Scottish trading interests. Another early settler was John Gwynn who arrived about 1800 from Wales and within months had erected a frame house on what is now First Street east of Main Street (now called Greenway Boulevard). Gwynn operated an inn here until about 1811 when he moved to nearby Winchester where he continued to run an inn until his death in 1827 aged 80 years old. Other early settlers include John Hogg (c1785), George Waterman (died before 1850) and Joseph Brown (died c1850). The town's growth came mainly due to its location at the confluence of two major rivers – the Rappahannock River on one side and then Broad Run Creek on the other – which made it ideal for trade with surrounding settlements along both rivers. This commerce led to new construction such as stores, homes, churches and schools being built throughout Front Royal over time including: nineteenth century brick buildings on Second Avenue between Greenway Boulevard/First Street and Third Avenue/Second Street; twentieth century additions to existing structures like Old Main House on Fourth Avenue between Third Avenue/Second Street & Fourth Avenue/First Street; current day single family houses dotting First Avenue between Greenway Boulevard/First Street &Fourth Avenue/FirstStreet; and most importantly many farm buildings dating back hundreds or even thousands years such as those still standing today around milepost 3 ½ miles east from downtown Front Royal off State Route 460 just south of Interstate 95 exit #2
Front Royal was founded in 1755 by Colonel James Edward Ogle. The town was named for theRoyal Regiment of Foot, which had been sent to help with the French and Indian War. In 1812, Front Royal became part of the Virginia Military Institute and was used as a ground school for new military officers. In 1865, it became an independent town. In the 1930s, Front Royal began to experience decreased population growth due to World War II and then following the Great Depression. However, population growth resumed in recent years due to various economic development opportunities. In 2017, Front Royal received its own community college after decades of working with VCU's Richmond Campus.
