Over time, however, there began to be more Scots-Irish immigrants who came to live in Colonial Heights. By 1763, there were over 1,500 people living in Colonial Heights. After the Revolutionary War ended in 1783, most of these colonists moved away from Virginia because of its slave trade policies which had been started by George Washington.
