This gave rise to another popular variant: Gift Cards from Ships (GFS) which could also be redeemed at locally operated concessions ashore or at special stores aboard naval vessels while docked in port. In 1995, Naval Station Norfolk introduced its own gift card system which allowed sailors and their families access to items such as clothes, books, jewelry and appliances at local retailers ashore before traveling back onboard ship for duty. In 2000, Naval Station Yokosuka introduced its own gift card system which allows sailors and their families access to items such as food, drinks and movies at local retailers ashore before traveling back onboard ship for duty. These systems have become common throughout the fleet; however there are still some exceptions where gifts are not redeemable ashore but instead must be collected through absenteeism or leave procedures onboard vessel. Awards competitions have also been designed specifically around these systems- often awarding specific amounts of money or points towards future purchases onshore or afloat from participating merchants/restaurants worldwide! Today's navy deployed gifting world is much different than when GFS first hit shore! The popularity of gifts sent directly from squadron/shipmates has made these types of programs less necessary but they're still very appreciated by Sailors!

Charlottesville, Virginia is a town in Albemarle County, Virginia. The population was 27,752 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Albemarle County and home to the University of Virginia. The town was founded in 1795 by Colonel John Smith as a trading post on the James River between Botetourt and Charlottesville. The first school in Charlottesville was built on Chestnut Hill Road in 1802. In 1824, George Washington Carver moved from Lexington, Kentucky to Charlottesville and opened his agricultural training center there. In 1828, Surveyor General William Linton laid out a plan for what would become Charlottesville which included 4 square miles (10 km2) of land on four sides of the James River. The original plat also included a public house and plantation house called "Mount Vernon". In 1830, General Robert Ewell established Camp Nelson west of Charlottesville where Confederate forces were stationed during the American Civil War. In 1839–40, Jesse Fenton developed land east of Mount Vernon into what became downtown Charlottesville. Whenuvara plantations were located near Mount Vernon and Fenton'sCIA developed them into one large plantation with many slaves working until freed in 1865. In 1861–62, Confederate General Robert Ewell ordered his army to cross the Rappahannock River at Fredericksburg so that they could move north towards Washington D.C.. On April 12th 1862 Union cavalry discovered Confederate troops under Lieutenant Colonel Darelloyd Johnston retreating down Market Street towards purchases made by Johnston before his surrender at Appomattox Court House two days later This event is known as Battle of Appomattox Court House or First day of May Offensive). Aftermath resulted in over 100 deaths including Ewell himself with wounds received at Battle of Wilderness three weeks earlier . As part of ceremonies marking UVA's 150th anniversary in 2007 President George W Bush dedicated UVA's campus to "Evelyn Kirby Wright" who served as acting chancellor from 2003-2004 until her appointment as chancellor effective January 1st 2005
