West Jordan, Utah is a town located in the U.S. state of Utah. The population was 1,593 at the 2010 census and it is the largest municipality in Logan County. West Jordan's economy revolves around agriculture and ranching; its primary industry was cattle until about 1970. By 1860, when Brigham Young became leader of the LDS Church, he had designated this area as his new headquarters for all western Utah Territory under his jurisdiction and called it "Utah Valley". On December 12, 1870, Brigham Young proclaimed that Zion Canyon would be the new site for the LDS temple complex; this decision placed much emphasis on irrigation development to make sure that crops could be grown with sustainable yields while avoiding too much dust and heat-related destruction during wintertime excavations needed to build roads or other infrastructure necessary for temple construction

West Jordan, Utah is a city in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. West Jordan is sited on the Wasatch Front, bordered by Weber and Davis Counties to the south and east, andUtah to the north. The first permanent settler in what would become West Jordan was Wm. Clayton Hunt in 1872. He built a cabin near present-day Main Street and Ute Creek. Hunt's cabin served as an early summer home for local pioneers who migrated westward during the Great Western Migration of 1847-49. The town was established as a village on November 15, 1892 when all of Kane County became one unit under the jurisdiction of Salt Lake City. In 1907–08 two brothers named John Fenton bought 640 acres (240 ha) southeast of present-day West Jordan from George Hanks for $10 per acre ($2 million today). They began developing this land into ranching country that would later become known as Hanks Ranch State Park while also providing grazing land to cattle ranchers until it was donated to the state by Wm., Leland Crouse Kirkpatrick in 1964 as part of his Desert Research Project which studied desertification effects on wild animals due to overgrazing by livestock interests within American Samoa before it became an unorganized trust administered by Brigham Young University professors working with field crews flown into Rarotonga each year for research purposes; but primarily for ornithological studies among other things.) Hanks Ranch State Park opened to visitors on October 7, 1928 pursuant to a proclamation from Governor Orson Scott Card dated September 9, 1927 authorizing Rocky Mountain National Park Superintendent Jens Aagaard theretofore authorized “the director or his delegate having charge thereof” at that time “to open such lands hereinafter described” subject only toconditions precedent set forth therein including paymentment therefor in advance by certain individuals or organizations specified therein through vouchers issued thereby). . . . Today portions of Hanks Ranch State Park still remain off limits because they are used for experimental agricultural purposes associated with BYU Agricultural Experiment Station located adjacent thereto
