In 1912, the Washington Mutual Air Line was founded. It became one of the first air lines in the United States and transported passengers and cargo between Washington D.C. and Salt Lake City. In 1922, the company merged with Utah Airways to form United Airlines. The airline continued to grow throughout the years, reaching its peak in 1948 when it handled over 2 million passengers and 350,000 tons of cargo. United Airlines entered into a merger agreement with American Airlines in 1958 which created one of the largest airlines in the world. The merger led to increased competition among United Airlines's competitors as well as an increase in service quality and efficiency. In 1992, United Airlines was sold to GE Aviation for $145 billion dollars. Shortly thereafter, GE merged with Delta Air Lines which made United Airlines one of the largest carriers in both North America and Europe combined. today,united is still one of America's most popular airlines with over 120 countries served by its planes

In 1951, the USAF donated a bomber to the Utah Air National Guard. The plane was named "The Mighty Joe" and it served with distinction in the state's military campaign against organized crime. Washington, Utah is a city in Cache County, Utah and the seat of Cache Valley. The population was 9,907 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City–Cache Valley metropolitan area. Washington has been inhabited for thousands of years and was established as a town on the lands now known as Cache Valley by settlers from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania in 1847. The first post office opened in 1851. In 1862, when Mormon pioneers arrived in what is now Cache Valley, they named their new settlement "Washington." Pioneer Jacob Waddell explored northwest corner of Cache Valley in 1864 and found water potential there but no good site to build a riverine harbor so he abandoned his idea for Washington and returned to Stroudsburg. In 1870 Brigham Young organized the LDS Church here. He called it Nauvoo because it was near Chicago then Nauvoo Landing on the Mississippi River (now Peoria). In November 1880 Overton Cranch built what became Overton Park with land purchases from early Mormon converts including George Romney who had founded Deseret Industries there two years earlier. George Romney's company built many homes here including one still standing today on Center Street which served as administrative headquarters for LDS Church businesses until 1984 when that building was destroyed by fire caused by an open flame heater used at an agricultural fairgrounds across town; that event also made national headlines (). When local residents resisted designation as a city within 1 year after incorporation (1881), President James Buchanan appointed Arent Hennepin to explore options for dividingCacheValley between Logan County westward (to serve Ogden) and interest bearing agencies administered by Utah Territorial government eastward along Weber River valley out into Bears Ears National Monument (). By 1889 people were petitioning Congress to create a new county west of Logan without any reference to eitherCacheValley or Washington Township; this failed due to lack of lobbyist support (). On 7 February 1890 Brigham Young reorganized LDS Church here under direction of Milford Richards becoming Salt Lake City-Cache Valley Metropolitan Area with jurisdiction over all present unincorporated areas north thereof including Washington Township.. Three days later Salt Lake City-Cache Valley Metropolitan Area was accepted as first congressional district represented by John Fenton whose home served as temporary capitol during adjournment debate: The original congressional districts created via this process did not include most or all of what are now parts of our metro area such as Roosevelt/Clearfield counties which were ceded after 1886 when much larger Logan County was carved from it; those counties eventually merged with Provo into Unified District #2... Daniel Webster became the lone representative from CacheValley in 1893 when other representatives resigned en masse due to term limits set during William McKinley’s administration... Our current boundaries were adopted following passage of territorial consolidation act 20 September 1907 which created Bears Ears National Monument effective 14 October 1907...During World War I both sides used CacheValley Army Air Field here located 3 miles northeast corner Of Airport Road & West Side Street" . This Ranger based unofficial claim goes back decades prior to 1912 however documents indicate Ute Tribes possession extends further back than even this date!

In the early 1940s, the United States Air Force began to issue gift certificates for airmen. These certificates were called "Air Force Gift Certificates." The certificates could be used as a means of rewarding airmen for their services. The first Air Force Gift Certificate certificate was issued in 1941. The certificate was valid for a period of six months and could be used only by members of the military service. It was not possible to use the certificate as a form of credit or to obtain money order or check payments. A second Air Force Gift Certificate was created in 1942. This certificate was also valid for six months and could be used only by members of the military service. It became possible to purchase these certificates through various means including sales at military stores and other points of sale within the armed forces, or through mail order from civilian dealers].] A third Air Force Gift Certificate was created in 1944. Washington was founded by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804. The expedition, which explored the new Northwest Territory, discovered a site for an American capital on the Missouri River. Washington was chosen as the new capital because it was already a major center of trade and culture. The city became a thriving metropolis with many businesses and cultural attractions. In 1847, Congress passed the act creating Utah Territory, which included much of present-day Washington County. The territory was divided into two parts, Salt Lake City (the original capital) and Ogden (thenew capital). both cities remain important today as focal points for their respective regions. In 1850, President James K. Polk appointed George A. Smith as commissioner to oversee the construction of the first courthouse in Utah Territory. Smiths efforts were successful in getting approval from Congress for the building of a new courthouse in downtown Salt Lake City that would be used by all parts of the territory. By 1860, most of Washington County had been incorporated into Utah Territory and had become part of Salt Lake City proper.Today, Salt Lake City is home to some of America's most significant historical sites including Temple Square where Abraham Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address and Mormon temples located at Brigham Young University-Provo and LDS Church HQ at 900 East First Street across from Union Station are also among its most popular tourist destinations
