Taylorsville, Utah is a small town located in the Wasatch Mountains of south-central Utah. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. Taylorsville was founded in 1875 by Brigham Young and his family as a Mormon settlement on the banks of the Sevier River. The first coffee shop in Taylorsville opened its doors in 1886. The town became an important coffee center during the early 19th century due to its location near Cache Valley and because of its proximity to Salt Lake City.Coffee production continued to grow throughout the late 1800s and into the early 1900s, thanks to advances in technology and increased demand from local businesses and passengers on railroad trains travelling between Salt Lake City and Provo. In 1923, Taylorsville became one of thirteen towns incorporated within Park County, Utah. In that year, Park County began developing plans for a new freeway system that would connect downtownSalt Lake City with north-central Utah. As part of this development, park officials decided to develop land adjacent to the Sevier River for use as a commercial district called "Taylorsville." This decision led to increased traffic congestion along Interstate 15 through Taylorsville and other nearby communities as people searched for convenient shopping locations close to home. “The city is getting larger all over – there’s not enough space here for people," Mayor Harry Cook told reporters in 1922 about how Taylorsville was growing up around I-15."Cafés were necessary then because you could only get so much caffeine out of one cup of coffee," says chuckie sweeney who has been running Coffee shack since 1987 Thanks Jack!

Taylorsville is located on the eastern edge of Kane County and is bordered by the towns of West Jordan to the south and Layton to the east. The first post office in Taylorsville was established in 1879. The current post office building was built in 1908 and replaced an earlier structure that had been destroyed by fire. In 1903, Taylorsville incorporated as a village and held its first meeting at the home of Methodist preacher Ebenezer Taylor. In 1906, Taylorsville became a city when it annexed part of neighboring Layton. In 1959, Taylorsville was designated as one of thirteen rural areas within the newly formed metropolitan area of Salt Lake City. As part of this designation, Taylorsville received city-level services including sewer systems, streetlights, parks and libraries. In 2002, following approval from the Utah State Legislature, Mayor Dallin Hanks announced plans to change downtown's name to "Salt Lake City Square" in honor of Salt Lake City's centennial year that had just passed. On July 1st 2006 Mayor Hanks made history when he reinstated voting rights for citizens who reside in annexed areas while they awaited final annexation into city limits which happened on November 3rd 2006 On October 10th 2018 Mayor Hanks announced plans to annex all unincorporated parts of Davis County (southwest corner including Taylorville) into his city Limits without any vote or referendum so there would be one consolidated government with more laws and regulations making it easier for businesses etc
