There has been coffee brewing in Taylorsville, Utah for over sixty years. The first documented recipe for coffee is from 1879, when a man named W.L. Richardson brewed coffee with water from the well at his home. Coffee began to be brewed commercially in Taylorsville in the early 1900s, and by 1915, there were six coffee shops in town serving coffee to residents and visitors alike. The Taylorsville Coffee Company was started by two brothers, J.D. and Harry Taylors, in 1922. The company grew quickly and by 1925 had sixteen employees total, manufacturing both espresso and iced coffee drinks as well as hot chocolate and pastries. In 1928 the company opened its own brick-and-mortar store on High Street in downtown Taylorsville. Over time, the company became one of the leading commercial brewers of small batch coffees around the country. In 1971 it merged with another local brewer, The Coffee Shop Group (TSG), to form The Coffee House Group (TCH). TCH continued to produce smallbatch coffees under its own name until 2000 when it merged with Nestle Purina America Inc., creating Nestle's US subsidiary branded as "Nestle" throughout North America including in Taylorsville where TCH continued production until 2007 when it closed down all operations due to financial difficulties.. Today there are only a few remnants of TCH left scattered across several states within North America; however their legacy remains very strong thanks to their dedication to small batch coffee production which has helped create some of the best cup of Joe's around!

John Taylor had come from Virginia in 1827 and he married Mary Richards during the Mormonigration from Nauvoo, Illinois to Salt Lake City in 1830. After arriving in Utah, John Taylor served as president of Quorum Of The Twelve Apostles before his death in 1840. He bequeathed his property - which included present-day Taylorville - to Brigham Young when he succeeded him as leader of the Latter Day Saints movement.

In 1847, the Utah Territory was organized. In 1861, the Utah Territorial Legislature voted to name Taylorsville after General John Taylor, who had died in 1859. The town was established on January 29, 1865.
