The town continued to grow until it reached its peak in 1907 when it had a population of 1,500 people. However, by 1915, Taylorville had shrunk to just 375 people because of economic reasons. This decline in population is partially due to World War I which caused many businesses to close down and reduce job opportunities for residents. Additionally, Prohibition began to take hold in America during this time period which led to increased theft and vandalism within the town limits. However, despite these challenges, Taylorsville continued to thrive through the 1920s until it finally went out of business in 1925.
