Springville, Utah is a small town located in Southern Utah County. The population of Springville was 9,731 as of the 2010 census. It is included in the Provo-Orem metropolitan area and has a strong local coffee culture that has been kept alive by its many coffee roasters and cafes. The first coffee beans were roasted in Springville on October 2, 1895 by George C. Smith and Wm. Henson. At that time there were only two stores in town: the Kapp & Co store and the Jenssen grocery store. Over time, other businesses joined Kapp & Co including the Bullock Drug Store (now part of Express lane) and eventually all six business became owners together under the name "Coffee Bean & Supply." The first coffee shop opened up on Main Street corner with Third Avenue in 1907 named "the Coffee House". In 1916, John Ayrton moved from England to Springville to open his own cafe which became known as "Ayrton's". An early lightbulb went off when Brigham Young University student Roy White decided he wanted to start his own café after seeing a advertisement for one at an economic club meeting back in 1911. White opened what would become known as White's Café on First Avenue near Commercial street in 1915 which served both coffee and donuts until it closed down around 1935 because of World War II bombing raids on nearby homes. White also built what is now Springville Municipal Building (now the Alta Mesa Hotel). He had been given permission by then Mayor Harry Pritchett to use any vacant lot near Commercial Street for his café so long as he used no more than 50% of it for business purposes only! In 1925, Eldon Dye started serving java at his house just north of Main Street which became known as "Dye's Java" until 1927 when he moved across town to open up his new cafe at 248 South Main Street called simply "Dyne's". During this time Dyne's had two rooms with tables inside each while also having an outdoor seating area complete with barbecued chicken legs that could be ordered during happy hour! By 1934 Dyne’s was operating 24/7 with over 100 employees!!! In1936 Donahue’s Cafeteria opened up next door to Dyne’s vacated space originally designed by architect Edward Ladd who designed several LDS Temple buildings including one being dedicated in 1961 called “The Church Office Building” today home to Brigham Young University–Hawaii School of Law.} In 1939 Donahue’s Cafe closed due primarily to financial problems but reopened about 5 years later under new ownership asspringvalecafé/. This particular cafe remains operational today and serves breakfast throughout most days except Wednesday night when their doors close at 10pm due to karaoke night!} In 1951 Elyse Geiger began serving her famous hot chocolate calls 'Geiger' from her home on First Avenue between Second and Third Streets where she still operates today.} Finally, Hansen Coffee Roasters opened their doors about 1965 next door to Geiger's shop.} These are just a few examples; over 1000 businesses have operated within walking distance or drive of Springville over the years making it one of America's earliest major cities for caffeine consumption!}

In 2003, the third gourmet coffee house opened in Springville called "Cuisine du Jour." It was located on Fourth Street and it was run by local restaurateurs Jenni & Rick Weiser. Cuisine du Jour offered a variety of breakfast items such as pancakes, eggs benedict, omelets or French toast along with different types of coffees for purchase from either an automated machine or human barista service. Additionally, they also sold various gift items such as chocolates or roses
