Spanish Fork, Utah is a town in Weber County, Utah, United States. The population was 2,099 at the 2010 census. Spanish Fork is located on the border of Weber and Tooele Counties. It lies south of Cache Valley and east of Provo. Spanish Fork has a total area of 41 square miles (112 km²). Spanish Fork began as a Mormon settlement in 1847 on the southern banks of the Sevier River. By 1860, it had grown to 208 residents and its post office opened in 1861. In 1876, Spanish Fork became part of Ogden City; it lost that status in 1903 when Ogden became an independent city. Hispanic immigrants from Mexico numbered 539 persons in 1920; they increased to 1,041 by 1940. Italian immigrants numbering 238 persons numbered 377 people in 1960; they increased to 472 by 1980. Japanese Americans numbering 176 persons numbered only 10 individuals during World War II; their presence decreased after the war but stabilized after 1946 when they were re-admitted into the United States as citizens by Congress.
