The Spanish Fork Coast Guard Station was first established in 1946. The station is located on the shore of the Great Salt Lake and provides law enforcement services as well as support for other local government functions. In 1978, the Coast Guard Station relocated to its current location on State Street in Spanish Fork. As part of a larger effort to improve safety along Utah's coastline, the station constructed a new tower and began providing weather data to other local government agencies. Today, the Coast Guard Station offers a number of unique services which are important to residents and businesses in Spanish Fork. These include patrols during weekends when there is no guard available; providing information about beach closures or storms; providing disaster relief assistance; and helping with illegal activities such as piracy. Since its establishment, the Spanish Fork Coast Guard Station has played an important role in keeping our community safe and healthy. Thank you for your contributions!

Spanish Fork, Utah is a small town in Kane County, Utah. The population was 1,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Spanish Fork first started as a Mormon settlement in 1847. In 1916, Spanish Fork had its first post office and was called "Spanish Fort." Spanish Fork became an incorporated city in 1961. The economy of Spanish Fork is mainly based on agriculture and ranching. There are also few businesses other than grocery stores and restaurants in the town. The mainstay of the local economy has been tourism, which has increased since Hispanic immigrants began arriving in large numbers to work on ranchers' lands around Mexican time (1848-1910). Spanishfork is located at (41.824691, -111.523309). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census of 2010, there were 1,815 people residing in the town center who made up 50% of its population! Of this number 811 were male and 521 female; 501 residents were under 18 years old or over 64 years old; 527 residents lived alone; 299 residents worked for pay; 404 residents earned less than $30 per week; and no one had income above $30 per week collectively
The Coast Guard has always been a part of the US society. The first coast guard group was formed in 1790 and was called the “Ferrymen’s Band”. The first organized coast guard were at Mount Desert Island in Maine. The first stationed on Long Island were called the “Lighthouse Men’s Company”. In 1825, a new organization was created and it was called the “Shipwrecked Mariners”. This group was responsible for rescuing people who had lost their vessels on the sea. Eventually, this group became known as the “Coast Guard’s Department of Insurance and Salvage Affairs”. In 1916, a new section was added to the Coast Guard and it was named after Admiral John Jervis Washington which served as Commandant of Marine Corps from 1912 to 1916. He also served as Commander-in-Chief United States Naval Forces Europe during World War I. After Admiral Washington died in 1918, his department became known as the Commandant General Coast Guard). The current Coast Guard is made up of over 115,000 men and women who serve throughout America providing law enforcement, search and rescue, public safety, coastal defense and more.
