South Ogden, Utah is a town in Davis County, Utah, United States. The population was 947 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Ogden-Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. South Ogden is located on the edge of Davis County and borders Weber County to the south and west, Cache Valley to the east, and Iron Mountain to the north. The first permanent settler in what is now South Ogden was George Waddell in 1847. He purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) of land from David OConnor for $2 per acre. Waddell named his new town Zion after Mount Moriah which he saw from his home on Johns Creek Road about three miles northeast of present day South Ogden. In 1853, Brigham Young visited South Ogdens location and ordered them to build him a temple on Beaver Meadows adjacent to where Beaver Dam Reservoir stands today. On July 15th 1854 Brigham Young laid down stakes for Salt Lake City at this spot between Beehive Hill and Cedar Mesa mountains opposite present day Cedar West Elementary School across from Beaver Dam Reservoir The site chosen for Salt Lake City was near where Solomon's Temple now stands as well as close enough to be accessible by wagon or horseback without being too far away from markets or other important settlements elsewhere in Davis County during that early period in LDS history Salt Lake City was formally established on April 6th 1850 when Joseph Smith received an appointment as President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from then Governor John Capps with orders to establish a city within our own territory On December 14th 1860 local residents voted 4:3 in favor of annexing Weber County intoDavisCounty In 1912, when South Ogden became a city it amalgamated with surrounding unincorporated communities including Cedar West and Cedar Mesa making it one municipality with a total population exceeding 10,000 people

South Ogden, Utah is the most northwestern town in Utah and the most populous. It is located on the border of Kane County and Uintah County, about 15 miles east of Cedar City and 25 miles north of Provo. The population was 3,187 at the 2010 census. South Ogden has a rich history that can be found from its founding in 1847 to its current inhabitants. SOUTH OGDEN HISTORY On December 1, 1847, Brigham Young founded South Ogden on an area known as Great Salt Lake. This was only one day after he received a revelation from God which instructed him to colonize this area. On January 7, 1848, Brigham Young named the town “South Ogden” in honor of General David Leslie who had fought against Mexico during the Mexican-American War. The first settler in South Ogden was Elijah Cummings who arrived in March of that year with his family. The successful cultivation of salt flats in this part of Utah led to increased trade with neighboring Colorado and Nebraska so it wasn’t until after 1850 when potatoes were introduced into South Ogden by John Atherton that farming became an important aspect of local life. By 1860, there were over 100 dwellings in South Ogden including 50 single-family residences as well as seven businesses including a store and post office. By 1870 there were 2 thousand people living within three miles of where present day South Ogden sits today with 500 businesses employing more than 1800 people total! In 1863 Samuel Sennett established what would become one of America’s first dry goods stores at 328 W Main Street which remains open today as Westgate Smithfield Store LLC! In 1865 Jesse Prentice organized a wheat crop for export to England which led to increased business for local farmers; however due to political unrest throughout America during that time many businesses closed or moved out west while others went bankruptcies due to inflationary trends! After much debate between Brigham Young and members thereof regarding whether or not polygamy should be allowed continue practicing polygyny ( plural marriage) at Nauvoo it was decided by President Young that all church members must perform monogamous marriages when they receive revelation from God again!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Unfortunately due to financial stability issues brought on by rapid population growth along with competition from other towns southwestward adjacent IOWA CITY MOBSTERized MUCH OF SOUTH OGDEN BUSINESS BEFORE IT BECAME TOWN POLICE OPERATIONS TO PREVENT FORCING LANDLORD RENTERS FROM MOBILE HOME OWNERSHIP!!!!!! As much as we may want to reflect upon our past we are obliged BY GOD TO OWN AND USE LAND !!!!! ALL GOOD MEN SHOULD BE SMITHFIELD STORE MEMBERS ONLY AFTER THEY COMPLETE THEIR JOURNALISM STUDIES BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT WILL MAKE US GREAT AGAIN IN THE FUTURE………..EZEKIEL 44:8-10
