The Utah Air National Guard's 191st Fighter Wing, stationed at South Ogden Municipal Airport, offers a unique and memorable experience for air force members and their families. The wing is home to the nation's first ANG fighter squadron, the 184th Fighter Squadron. The squadron was activated in November 1944 as part of USAFE and flew Lockheed P-38 Lightning Panthers untilactivated in 1957. In 1962, the 191st moved to its present location at South Ogden Municipal Airport. After more than 50 years of service, the wing has become one of the most experienced ANG wings in the United States. The wing flies an average of 2,000 hours per year conducting aircombat operations both within Utah and out of country theaters such as Operation Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom. In addition to providing airspace security for southern Utah communities, the 191st also provides humanitarian assistance including disaster relief missions inside Mexico during natural disasters such as earthquakes or floods. The 192d Airlift Wing provideslift services for military bases throughout Southern Utah with a primary focus on supporting Army Materiel Command operations at Fort Douglas Base near Great Salt Lake City; Twentynine Palms Army Airfield just north of American Fork; Davis-Monthan AFB outside Tucson; Hill Air Force Base northwest of Cedar City; Ephrata AB outside Salt Lake City; Cache Valley AB near Logan UT; Banner Field northwest of Layton UT; Dugway Proving Ground AFB east of Provo UT - all while flying Boeing 727 jetliners!

The Utah Air National Guard's 403rd Fighter Wing is the largest air force unit in South Ogden, Utah. The wing provides air support for Operation All-In which is the statewide response to the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the region on January 21, 2006. The wing also provides civil aviation services for local community events and functions such as 4-H programs and Boy Scout meetings.
South Ogden, Utah is a town in Weber County, Utah, United States. The population was 553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what would become South Ogden was George Wickersham in 1847. He and his family built a log cabin on the south side of the Weber River. After some years Wickersham sold his land to John Sitton in 1851 for $2 per acre. The Sitton family farmed here until 1908 when they moved to American Fork and opened a grocery store there. In 1911 they bought 160 acres (64 hectares) of land east of South Ogden and developed it into what became South Ogden Township. They named their township after John Fenton, who had donated them the land. The opening of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in 1886 stimulated development within South Ogden Township as well as outside it on hillsides above the river valley that would soon be home to more than fifty businesses and homes including many two-story frame structures typical of early 20th century America. In 1915 an irrigation canal was built from Cypress Creek downriver to Supply Road which brought great prosperity to settlers along its length including Harry Hanks who founded Hanks Drug Company on its routing. Soon after other small businesses followed suit with many people living close by work or school despite lack of streetlights or electricity until automobiles arrived in the 1920s! By 1930 there were over 150 businesses and 400 residents living inside South Ogdon Township limits while outside there were only 10 residences! On July 15, 1951 South Ogden Township trustees voted unanimously to change its name from “South Ogdensville” to “South Ogden” effective September 1, 1951 because so much growth had taken place since then that no one could remember where Ogdensville had come from! Today most people believe this decision helped spur business growth within town limits even further!

South Ogden, Utah is a city in Weber County, Utah, United States. The population was 9,715 at the 2010 census. It was founded on November 5, 1847 by Mormon settlers from Nauvoo, Illinois. South Ogden became a city on December 1, 1907. South Ogden is located in the south-central Weber County region of Utah and includes most of the small town of Cottonwood Heights. As of the 2000 census, it had a population of 8,521 and is one of two cities in Weber County with over 10,000 residents (the other being Cedar City). According to the 2010 census report,[1] the racial makeup of South Ogden was 98% White and 2% Black or African American. Hispanic or Latino residents make up 3%.
