Today much of SouthJordan is still rural with a small number of urban residents. The first white person to live in what is now South Jordan was Hiram Page who arrived there in 1847. Other early settlers included George Waddell and Lorenzo Snow. In 1907 Utah Territory was divided into two parts named after Salt Lake City and Provo—South Jordan proper became part of Provo while West Valley became part of Salt Lake City. on October 1st 1960 an Act Was Passed In Congress To Change The Name Of This Place To Zion National Park
