Pleasant Grove is a small town in Tooele County, Utah, United States. The population was 2,839 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the Uinta Mountains and is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Pleasant Grove was founded in 1847 by Mormons who had come from Fillmore, New Mexico. The first store opened in 1848. Pleasant Grove was named for General Joseph Smith's home state of Pennsylvania (then part of Virginia). In 1860, Pleasant Grove joined with other towns in Tooele County to form the new city of Provo. The population of Provo grew to over 100,000 by 1870. In 1902, Pleasant Grove became the site of an experimental farm colony led by Professor John Wistar which aimed to improve agriculture in Utah. The experiment failed and all but a few acres were sold off in 1916. The town changed its name to Pleasant Grove on July 1, 1976 as a result of a resolution passed by the Utah House of Representatives during their annual meeting that year.

Pleasant Grove is a small town in Heber County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,030 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of the Wasatch Range and is bordered by Cedar Mesa to the north and east, Cottonwood Heights to the south, and Weber City to the west. The first people who lived in Pleasant Grove were Native Americans. They called it "Hahahahe" meaning "place of peace." In 1829, John C. Fremont discovered gold near Pleasant Grove while exploring for Ute Mountain ranges in what is now Wyoming. prospectors from California started mining around this time as well. By 1836, there were over 20 mines operating in Heber County alone. In 1850, Brigham Young came to Utah with his family and organized Deseret settlements west of Salt Lake City. One of these settlements was called Pleasant Grove after General George A. Smith's wifepleasant (néeveland). Smith thought it would be a good place for Mormons to settle because it was free from racism and religious discrimination practiced by other ranchers in that area at that time. The first residents of Pleasant Grove began moving into their new homes in late October 1850. Many pioneer families had difficulty getting land because they were not rich enough to purchase it outright from others or because they did not have strong Mormon ties like many other pioneers did. Instead they leased land from local ranchers for periods ranging from one year up to 10 years until they could purchase it outright or receive a deed as part of a package deal with other items such as livestock and tools included along with their home furnishings or equipment when landed on their property

However, through hard work and prayer, many of these pioneer families were able to rebuild their homes and businesses. The town continued to grow until it became an incorporated city in 1902.
