This responsibility required that they possess a valid license to own a firearm and keep it locked up at all times. In 1878, the first store in Pleasant Grove opened its doors. The store was owned by Wm. Hite and his family. The Hites were instrumental in setting the standard for gun safety and security in this small town. They operated the store until 1911, when they sold it to J & T Pritchett of Ogden. From 1911 until 1934, the Pritchett family ran the store. During that time, they also served as trustees of Pleasant Grove Elementary School from 1912-1934. In 1934, J & T Pritchett bought out Mr. Hite’s share of the business and reopened the store as a general merchandise establishment under the name of “Pleasant Grove Hardware” Incorporated.. The present day company is still run by Mrs. Pritchett with her son Mark as president/CEO and husband Rick as marketing director/director of sales). In 1978, Mrs. Pritchett donated her entire collection (over 140 handguns) to local school district which was used to build a new elementary school on land donated by Mrs. Pritchette herself! Today, both schools are part of Pleasant Grove Unified School District!

Pleasant Grove is a small community in Utah that dates back to the 1800s. It is located in the Cedar Mesa area of the state and is part of the Salt Lake Valley. The population was 3,867 at the 2010 census. The community is named for Pleasant Grove, West Virginia, which was founded by Mormons in 1847 as a place where they could practice their religion freely and avoid persecution from native Americans. The town quickly became a center for Mormon culture and commerce, and its residents built an impressive brick courthouse, school house, chapel, and other public buildings. In 1870, Pleasant Grove was selected as the site of a newinger's colony to help care for newly arrived Latter-day Saint settlers who were fleeing persecution in Ohio and Illinois. The colony grew rapidly and by 1875 had reached 1,000 people. By 1907 it had grown to over 5,000 people; however, because of World War I (and related restrictions on immigration), only 350 remained after hostilities ended. During World War II (1939-1945), Pleasant Grove served as one of three principal sites where Japanese American citizens were interned during the war years. Because of its location within striking distance of Topeka Union Station on Interstate 15—the primary relocation point for Japs—Pleasant Grove played an important role in this period of Utah history. Some members of the local Japanese American community have maintained that their experiences at Pleasant Grove helped shape their later political opinions

Pleasant Grove, Utah is a small town in Box Elder County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. The first permanent settler in Pleasant Grove was James Hite on May 3, 1847. Hite and his family were pioneers who arrived in what is now Box Elder County on the wagon train of oxen pulled by Brigham Young's men. The settlement was named for General David Logan's wife Julia (Pleasant) Grove. In 1850, Pleasant Grove had a post office and two stores. It had a school but no doctor or dentist so people traveled to nearby Ogden for those services. In 1870, Pleasant Grove had nine residents and two stores; it also had one schoolteacher and one boarder. In 1880, there were twenty-five residents and four stores; it also had three schools (four teachers). By 1890, Pleasant Grove consisted of six houses, one store, and one school with thirty students; it also boasted an opera house which served as a cultural center for the community. Later that decade the town suffered greatly from fire damage caused by "The Great Salt Lake Flood" of 1892 which destroyed most of its buildings including both the highschool and opera house which were replaced only two years later with a new brick building that still stands today. However by 1896 when Pleasant Grove again boasted five residents: three businesses (a grocery store/diner/barber shop), one schoolteacher (whose last class met in November 1895), and two residences (!), society began to rebound somewhat due to increased trade within eastern Utah during the late 19th century spurred by railroad construction across America such as the LDS Church's First Transcontinental Railroad project which opened up new markets for agricultural goods exported from eastern Utah reachable through Salt Lake City via wagon trains laden with goods from California
Pleasant Grove was founded in 1847 by the citizens of Logan and Provo. It was named for a grove of trees that were located on the banks of the Pleasant Fork of the Utah River. The first settlers Came from England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. They brought their homes with them when they arrived in what is now Logan County, Utah.
