Small batch coffee has been around for quite some time in Payson, Utah. The first small batch coffee shop was opened in the early 1930s by two brothers named Harry and Bud Neil. They started up a small business selling ground coffee from their home. The popularity of small batch coffee grew throughout the 1940s and 50s, as more and more individuals began to investigate the benefits of using lower quality beans instead of massproduced ones. By the 1960s, smallbatch coffee had become a popular trend in Utah. In 1969, Gregg Bosworth opened his first large-scale small batch coffee store in Park City. At this point,small batch Coffee became known as "the new standard." Bosworth's success led to other entrepreneurs starting their own stores throughout Utah over the next few decades. Today, there are countless smallbatch coffee shops across the state of Utah.

The first coffee beans to be roasted in Payson, Utah were Presbyterian Coffee Roasters. The roasting process was started by the late Mr. Harry K. Weiland and his son, Chuck Weiland in 1978. The family-owned business continued until 1995 when it was sold to the current owners of Bob's Coffee & Tea Company.

Payson, Utah is an unincorporated community in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is located east of Cedar City on the edge of Bears Ears National Monument. The Payson post office was established in 1876 and discontinued in 1951. The first settler in Payson was James A. Waddell who arrived on July 9, 1876. He named his ranch "Waddell Ranch", after himself and his father-in-law William Waddell (1792–1867). Mormon pioneer George Quesnel came to Payson in 1886 and organized a wagon train that transported goods from Cache Valley to St. George over the Great Salt Lake Valley Railroad. The town site was surveyed by John Capps under a grant from the US government on November 3, 1907. Capps developed what became known as "Canyon Park" which included present-day Payson and portions of Cedar City proper. The town plat was filed with the USGS on December 7, 1907 and approved on January 12, 1908. On October 14, 1910 appointment letters were sent out to citizens of Cedar City informing them that they should begin packing their families into storage barns at their homes until orders arrived for them to move into new quarters within modify period provided they complied with all regulations set forth therein. In 1911 en route from Provo through Cedar City's Canyon Park area to meet Brigham Young University students for football practice near Buffalo Gap had stopped at Grouse Gulch for water supplies when local prospectors found oil shale thereabouts; this led to increased activity around Grouse Gulch and adjacent valleys during 1912–1913. By 1915 when school began again in Cedar City it had become apparent that only a small percentage of residents would be able to leave town due primarily to World War I restrictions on military travel beyond certain predetermined areas; accordingly a committee chaired by Mayor Hyrum Mathews recommended against any further development north of Centerville Road Accordingly no buildings were erected or services offered within canyon park except for one grocery store open six days per week during 1916

Payson, Utah is a town in Carbon County, Utah, United States. The population was 527 at the 2010 census. The name Payson comes from the Paiute word "pa'e" meaning "place." The first European to visit what is now Payson was Captain George Armstrong who landed on Sixteenth Street on July 14, 1847. He named the site Fortunato Ranch because he believed that beautiful mountain valleys lay just beyond its boundaries. In 1893 when Gail Egan and her husband James Thorpe established a cattle ranch there, they were followed by many others in search of new land to ranch in America's Great West. In 1911 the townsite of Payson was platted by J.C. Beecham and Atherton Waddell with assistance from the LDS Church and it became an incorporated village under his jurisdiction on February 17, 1912. On May 26, 1916 Brigham Young sent missionaries named Wesley Sorenson and Franklin Dyer to preach and teach at a conference held at Bearsville Station in present-day Mesa County about 50 miles east of Payson on rimrock hills overlooking Cache Valley country which had been opened for settlement by Joseph Smith two years earlier as part of his plan for settlements around the Great Salt Lake Basin area known then as Deseretutsch Land (now eastern Utah). About 100 people attended this conference organized by John Atherton Russell from Springdale where meetings were being held also for other church organizations including Mutual Benefit Societies and Relief Societies associated with various denominations led by bishopsric conferences throughout North America responsible for missionary work among their respective congregations with support provided by individual members donate resources available within their geographical areas via postal mail providing instructions bearing date stamp “April 12th” 1870 along center lineof map closely superimposed upon original surveys prepared & executed by Surveyor General Mariano Rivera prior to Mexican War
