The North Ogden National Guard was founded on December 12, 1907. It is the oldest national guard unit in Utah and has been serving the state since that date. The regiment has a rich history dating back to its inception, as it is one of only two units of the Utah National Guard that are still active today.
North Ogden, Utah is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 3,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. North Ogden is bordered by Kane County to the north, South Ogden to the east and west, and Spanish Fork Valley to the south. The first Europeans to visit what is now North Ogden were Mormon pioneers who arrived in 1847. A post office was established in 1851, and until 1907 it was called Frenchtown; then it changed its name to North Ogden because of local concern that another US town with this name would take over their business interests there. In 1896 an electric power plant was built in North Ogden by Electric Light & Power Company of America (ELP). This became one of ELP's three plants in Utah; other two plants were located in Provo and Sandy City. The plant operated until 1951 when it went out of business due to low electricity prices caused by World War II shortages of materials needed for war production. Today there are several businesses which have been or continue to be headquartered in North Ogden: Dell Inc., Marriott International (Residence Inn), Best Western Plus/ Comfort Inn & Suites nighTCS(Eagle Rock Resort), American Express OPEN Forum (AEPAC), Costco Wholesale Club warehouse store, KSLU-TV affiliate (KUOW-TV) and Interscholastic Athletic Association high school teams from both boys and girls programs play their home games at Gregg School District Stadium on Northwest Highway southeast of town limits. According to the 2000 US Census there were 2,182 people living in North Ogdan as well as 914 households out of a total population of 3,531 residents. Male/female ratios were 48%/52%. African Americans made up 11% of all residents while Latinos made up 16%.
