North Ogden, Utah is a small town located in Weber County, Utah. The population was 3,817 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The name "North Ogden" comes from the Omaha Indians who lived there before they were forced to move to Nebraska during the Indian Wars. The first European to visit North Ogden was Captain James Cook in 1778 when he and his crew stopped here on their way back from a circumnavigation of Earth. At that time there were no settlements in this area so trade with Native Americans took place primarily through hunting and fishing trips which allowed for ongoing cultural exchange between the natives and early settlers. In 1847 Brigham Young founded Provo, Utah as an LDS outpost on what is now Navajo land east of what is today North Ogden. This settlement grew rapidly due to its location close to horse trails used by Mormon settlers travelling westward across the Great Plains toward California. In 1857 Brigham Young ordered all Mormons within 200 miles of Salt Lake City removed to comply with US military regulations barring non-Mormons from participating in hostilities against Mexico occurring south of US borders. As a result, many members of Mormon families living north of Springdale left for Idaho or Oregon where they could remain safe from military action and support their brethren living south of the border. The first post office in North Ogden was established on December 1, 1865., but it closed due to lack of customers after only sixty days because people traveling eastward along present day Interstate 15 had better options for mail service than those traveling westward along I-15. The first thing that residents did when they moved into their new homes was erect fences around their properties which served as reminders that they belonged somewhere and not just any other community within Weber County! Today North Ogden boasts a variety of businesses including several banks (Aurora branch being among them), two insurance companies, two churches (one Baptist and one Methodist) as well as several restaurants and bars including Red’s BBQ & Grill, Alibi’s Bar & grill, Joe’s Pizza & Pasta Kitchen and Birdie’s Golf Course Pro Shop/Golf Area(the only golf course in town). There are also several schools including high school (Northridge), middle school (Alamo Heights), elementary school (OgDEN Jr./Sr.), West High School (opened Fall 2006) as well as three libraries; One public library serving all residents inside city limits while another serves portions outside city limits; three health clinics; one veterinary clinic; four convenience stores plus one grocery store; six automotive garage doors providing vehicle repair services; five houses designed by architects Edward Larrabee Beall who also designed residential neighborhoods around Provo; plus numerous business parks such as Southpark Business Park - home to Orchard Health Care Center - major employer - shopping center anchored by Sears - largest retailer headquartered in town - Overland Mall anchoring downtown center with anchor tenant Macy's Department Stores . . . life goes on even when big things change!

North Ogden, Utah is a town in Iron County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Area. North Ogden is located at (40.801574, -111.545362). The first permanent settler in what would become North Ogden was James A. Garfield who arrived on July 10th 1859 after traveling all the way from Missouri. He and his family were refused entry to Utah because of their personal beliefs in slavery which they had left behind when they migrated there two years earlier. Garfield started a small farm near present day Cottonwood Park and trading post that he named Garfield Station after his late Vice President of the United States Ulysses S Grant who had also been born in Missouri but resided in Illinois when he became President in 1873, one year after Garfield's death at age 58. In 1870 John Woolridge founded Rocky Mountain News and soon afterwards began publishing papers throughout northern Utah including North Ogden where he erected a log cabin on the bluff above Cottonwood Park about 1900-1901A . The first post office was established here on November 16th 1861 by Alfred Iverson with James Harker as clerk and Samuel Morse as treasurer.
